QUEENSBURY — Evan Steffen turned in quite a second round in the 103rd New York State Men’s Amateur Championships at Glens Falls Country Club on Wednesday.

Playing out of Chautauqua Golf Club, the Pitt-Bradford standout fired an even-par 71, one of the best efforts of the day, but it wasn’t enough to make the cut. When combined with his opening-round 84, his 155 total was 13 shots off the cutline.

Leading the tournament is Christian Chapman of RDGA eClub, whose 65-69-134 gives him a four-shot lead over Lucas Rizo-Patron of Pelham Country Club and five-shot advantage over Liam Moloney of The GC at Mansion Ridge.
