The Diamond Dawgs won the Bronze Division championship at this weekend’s Orchard Park Quaker Classic. After going 0-3 in pool play, the Diamond Dawgs went 2-0 on Sunday to win their bracket’s title.

Rylan Cambria (Fredonia) threw a complete-game four-hitter with 14 strikeouts to lead the Diamond Dawgs over North Buffalo Blaze Yellow 7-2 in the championship game. The Diamond Dawgs led 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning before scoring four runs to put the game away. Collin Bragg (Frewsburg), Curtis Spielman (Frewsburg) and Jaxson Swanson (Frewsburg) each had a pair of hits while Bragg, Spielman and Cory Troutman (Southwestern) each had an RBI.

In the semifinals, Spielman scattered seven hits in a complete-game effort with seven strikeouts as the Diamond Dawgs beat the Southline Shamrocks 7-3. Spielman helped his own cause with two hits and three RBIs while Cambria, Swanson, Troutman and Huxley Hale (Falconer) added two hits apiece. Troutman and Hale each drove in a run.

In the pool-play opener Friday, Troutman, Swanson and Hale had the Diamond Dawgs’ lone hits in a 19-0 loss to NY Stingers Gold, the overall tournament champion.

On Saturday morning, Bragg, Greyson Whitfield (Fredonia) and Swanson each singled in the Diamond Dawgs’ 11-1 loss to Lancaster Legends White.

On Saturday afternoon, Orchard Park Quakers-Sutton rallied from a 3-0 hole and scored the winning run in the top of the eighth to beat the Diamond Dawgs 4-3. Eight different players had a single for the Diamond Dawgs. Bragg scattered eight hits in seven innings, allowing three runs (one earned) while striking out four.
