13U TRAVEL BASEBALL
BATAVIA — The Diamond Dawgs went 3-1 at the 16th annual Darien Lake Tournament over the weekend.
The Diamond Dawgs opened the tournament with a 27-0 win over Glow Legion on Friday night. Maxx Davis went 5 for 5 with a double, five RBIs and five runs scored. Collin Bragg was 2 for 3 with five RBIs and four runs scored; Jackson Butzer went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and two runs scored; and Rylan Cambria doubled, drove in a run and scored four times. Greyson Whitfield, Caden Lacki, Davis and Cory Troutman combined on a four-inning no-hitter with four strikeouts.
On Saturday morning, the Diamond Dawgs beat Central Amherst 10-0 in five innings.
Butzer had two hits and scored a run; Lukas Youngberg doubled, drove in a run and scored a run; Whitfield singled and drove in three runs; and Cambria singled and scored three runs. Lacki and Jaxson Swanson combined on a one-hitter with nine strikeouts.

On Saturday afternoon, the Diamond Dawgs scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Lou Gehrig Blue 7-6. Butzer reached on an error and Curtis Spielman followed with a single that advanced Butzer to third. After an intentional walk to Troutman and a popout, Butzer scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. With runners at second and third, Lou Gehrig elected to intentionally walk Swanson to load the bases again before Spielman beat a throw to the plate on a Youngberg groundball to win the game. Spielman earned the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief.
In the semifinal Sunday, the Lancaster Legends Red took a 6-0 lead before beating the Diamond Dawgs 12-5. Youngberg, Whitfield, Spielman and Troutman each singled for the Diamond Dawgs.
10U TRAVEL BASEBALL
LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Gladiators improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the Premier League with a 7-0 no-hit shutout of the North East Grape Smashers on Sunday at LaGrega Field.
The Gladiators pitching staff continued its strong showing this spring, striking out eight, walking three and not allowing a runner past second base.
Starting pitcher Carter Skoglund (Lakewood) threw three innings of no-hit ball, striking out six en route to the win. Relievers Easton Smith (Frewsburg), Conley Green (Ashville) and Griffin Beaver (Randolph) each threw an inning of no-hit ball to seal the win. The pitching staff was backed by a stellar defense, which committed no errors for the second straight game.
Lakewood’s offense was paced by Green with two hits and two runs scored; base hits by Ryan Butzer (Frewsburg) and Declan Winchester (Lakewood), and Skoglund, who ripped a double.
The Gladiators return to action next weekend at the Angels in the Outfield Tournament in Harbor Creek, Pennsylvania.
