Rodgers rises leaderboard at NJCAAs
CHAUTAUQUA — The weather gods shined down on the second rounds of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Men’s and Women’s Golf National Championships hosted by Jamestown Community College at Chautauqua Golf Club on Wednesday.
On the men’s side, Jamestown dropped to 11th overall with a team score of 93-over par. The top-scoring Jayhawk remains Kyler Wojtowicz, who carded a 78, after an opening round 79, on the par 72 course, which moved him to a tie for 26th. Reid Olsen (81/85), Cole Johnson (84/90), Jaxson Faulk (86/94) and Zach Johnson (97/86) trail Wojtowicz, who is also a Jayhawk hockey player.
Defending team champion Sandhills CC remains in first with a two-day score of 5-over par. Individually, Jake Morgan of CC of Morris remains in the lead with a one-stroke advantage after shooting a 2-under through two rounds.
For the women, Cadence Rodgers climbed to 19th overall through 36 holes with a 101 on the picture-perfect afternoon. The ladies’ leaderboard now has a tie at the top with Sarah Wang of Oxford-Emory after shooting a +14; she led after day one, but she is now tied with Amelia Dunseth of Rock Valley CC. The team leader is currently the College of DuPage, which has a four-player total of +138.
Round three is set for the day with the men returning to the early groupings at 8 a.m.
