Addison Kota

Gowanda’s Addison Kota finished her senior season with one more accolade before heading to Syracuse University to play Division I softball next year, earning the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 Player of the Year honors.

Kota hit a whopping .673 average for the Panthers, scored 32 times, drove in 29 runs, hit 12 doubles, three triples and four home runs. She also pitched 61 innings and gave up just 12 earned runs with an average of 1.38 and struck out 86 batters while earning a 6-3 record.

The league’s other top honor went to Forestville sophomore Alexandra Kerstetter stepping into the circle as the Hornets ace for the first time she was named the Pitcher of the Year. Kerstetter pitched 79 2/3 innings and gave up just 22 earned runs with an average of 1.93 and striking out 99 batters.

Forestville dropped just one league game to claim the title with a 9-1 record and Kerstetter was joined by three teammates as first-team all-stars. Senior Madison Christian hit .421 with 23 runs scored, 17 RBIs and six doubles, senior Carilene Sliwa hit .485 with 30 runs, 6 RBIs, 11 doubles, a triple and a home run and sophomore Emily Lillie hit .395 with 22 runs, 21 RBIs, four doubles, a triple and two home runs. Along with her pitching stats, Kerstetter hit .340 with 22 runs scored, 14 RBIs and two doubles.

Forestville added sophomore Elizabeth Case, junior Kaylee Adamczak and sophomore Olivia Valentine to the league’s Second Team.

Silver Creek finished second in the league and landed three girls on the First Team with junior Kyla Ziegler and Rylee Weiskerger and senior Madisen Hein. Ziegler hit .408 with 18 runs scored, 11 RBIs and six doubles, Weiskerger hit .396 with 19 runs scored, 18 RBIs, nine doubles, two triples and a home run, and Hein hit .340 with 10 runs scored, 15 RBIs and four doubles.

The Black Knights added a trio of juniors to the Second Team with Priya Sakpal, Rhyana Willis and Madison Blair.

Along with Kota, Gowanda senior CC John and junior Jenna Luther were named first-team all-stars. John hit .414 with 15 runs scored, 16 RBIs, five doubles and a home run, while Luther hit .397 with 12 runs scored, eight RBIs, two doubles and a triple.

Sophia Bobseine and Alayna Fish were second-team all-stars for Gowanda.

Randolph seniors Mallory Smallback and Aryana Sears were first-team selections. Smallback hit .317 with nine runs scored, seven RBIs and four doubles, while Sears hit .333 with 14 runs scored, eight RBIs and two doubles.

Peyton Roberts and Elenza Bryan were named to the Second Team for the Cardinals.

Brocton sophomore Paige Miller earned a first-team selection after hitting .465 with 12 runs scored, nine RBIs, five doubles, a triple and two home runs. Zoe Spiller was named to the Second Team for the Bulldogs.

Pine Valley junior Sandra Ivett rounds out the First Team after hitting .190 with four runs scored and two RBIs. The Panthers landed Brooke Dustin-McCoy on the Second Team.

The Team Sportsmanship award went to Brocton, while individual winners are Forestville’s Christian, Silver Creek’s Hailie Rybij, Gowanda’s Darcie Kennedy, Randolph’s Ryanne Bushey, Pine Valley’s Madilynn Robertson and Brocton’s Spiller.

Forestville’s Brianne Hazelton was named the Coach of the Year after leading the Hornets to another league title.
