ELLICOTTVILLE — Want a history lesson?
OK, here goes.
Since 2000, there have been three 57s shot during the Italian-American Charity Golf Tournament on the Double Black Diamond Course.
The first one, in 2017, was turned in by the team of Jasyn Consiglio and Josh Dankovich.
No. 2 was recorded a year later by the tandem of Pete Morgante and Jon Gren Jr.

And who are the latest members of that exclusive club?
Take a bow, Casey Digirolamo and PJ Degnan.
“It was the right day for Casey and I,” Degnan said.
The duo fashioned their best-ball 13-under-par gem in the final round of the 55th annual event on a sun-drenched Saturday to win by four shots over the team of Paul Mole Jr. and David Lobb. Digirolamo and Degnan’s scores were 60-71-57-188, while Mole Jr. and Lobb finished at 66-62-64-192.
While it was a weekend filled with fine performances throughout the 84-team field, Digirolamo and Degnan were the headliners. Their 10-under 60 gave them the first-round lead on Thursday, but they settled for a 1-over 71 effort on Friday to put them four shots behind leaders Nick Munella and Jake Currie entering the final 18 on Saturday.

The momentum swung in favor of Digirolamo and Degnan on the front nine on the final day, however, as they made the turn at 7-under.
“We thought, ‘We’ve got to be close (to the lead). Let’s try and keep it going on the back nine,'” Degnan recalled.
That’s precisely what they did, finishing with a comfortable lead after putting out on the 18th green.
Now, Digirolamo and Degnan gain possession of the championship trophy for a year. Degnan figured they’d each keep it for six months.
“I don’t think we want to trade it every week,” Degnan said.

One thing is certain. Digirolamo and Degnan wouldn’t trade any of the weekend’s memories in Ellicottville either.
