Digirolamo, Degnan lead I-A with 60
ELLICOTTVILLE — The team of Casey Digirolamo and PJ Degnan fired a 60 on Thursday to take the lead after the first round of the 55th Italian-American Charity Golf Association Tournament at Holiday Valley Resort.
Two shots back with a 62 are Nick Munella and Jake Currie, while the teams of Bill Malenga and Salim Sarvaiya, and John Sirianno and Ryan Calkins carded 63s and are three shots off the pace.
Although Mother Nature delayed completion of the opening round by 90 minutes, there were still plenty of fine scores. All told, there were 49 teams that shot under 70, including Brett Cappa and Derek Dawson, Joe Frangione and Tyler Nelson and Pete Morgante and Jon Gren Jr. with 64s; and Anthony Gullo and Jake Dwaileebe, John Salvaggio and Jayden Schultz, Joe Paterniti Jr. and Mike Austin, Dennis Palermo and Bernie Auer, and George Panebianco and John O’Mara with 65s.
Eleven teams shot 66, nine finished at 67, 10 were at 68 and seven completed their round with a 69.
The second round is today. The final round is Saturday.
