West Seneca West Tops Jamestown In ECIC D1

WEST SENECA — Brady Coughlin hit a double and a grand slam, finishing with 5 RBIs and two runs scored as West Seneca West defeated Jamestown 12-5 in Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 action Wednesday.

Chase Bonta led the Jamestown (4-10, 2-7) effort with a double and 2 RBIs, Maddox Thompson knocked an RBI double and Ryan Engquist hit an RBI and scored. Pitching duties were shared by Engquist, Jayden Rodriguez and Hector Montanez.

Nolan Wackowski was the winning pitcher for West Seneca West (5-6, 5-6).

GOWANDA BLANKS CARDINALS

GOWANDA — Carter Capozzi scattered five hits and struck out six to spark Gowanda to a five-inning 10-0 victory over Randolph in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Division 3 baseball victory over Randolph on Tuesday.

The Panthers (12-2, 12-0) broke open a scoreless tie with two runs in the third inning, followed by three in the fourth and five more in the fifth to win via the 10-run rule.

Capozzi helped his own cause with three hits and three RBIs; Seth Geiger also had three hits; and Jayden Fish drove in a pair of runs.

For Randolph (11-4, 10-3), Randall Nottingham collected a pair of hits and Wyatt Shields added a double.

BECKSTROM HURLS GEM

CLYMER — Frewsburg scored two runs in both the first and second innings and that was enough as Drake Beckstrom pitched a gem.

In his complete-game effort, Beckstrom allowed two hits, struck out nine and walked two to lead the Bears to a 4-0 win over Clymer/Sherman/Panama in a Division 2 game. He also helped his own cause with a pair of doubles.

Also providing offensive support for Frewsburg (2-9, 2-7) were Gavin Weaver and Blake Eckman with two doubles apiece, and Tage Mazzurco, Chase Lombardo and Connor Campion with a double apiece.

Jon Abers and Evan Conklin had a single apiece for the Wolfpack (4-8, 4-5), who had Ryland Poster on the mound.

EAGLES PUT UP 11 IN 4TH INNING

CATTARAUGUS — Cameron Mendell and Brody Erlandson combined to scatter five hits over five innings as Ellicottville beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley 15-1 in Division 3.

Leading 4-1 entering the top of the fourth inning, the Eagles exploded for 11 runs to put the game out of reach.

AJ Myers went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored; Grayson Neal was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored; and Sawyer Miller singled, drove in three runs and scored twice for Ellicottville (10-4, 7-4).

Blake Hill and Caleb Aguiar had two hits apiece for the Timberwolves (0-12, 0-10).

MAPLE GROVE PUTS UP 21 RUNS

MAYVILLE — Aiden Dahlberg went 4 for 5 with four RBIs to lead Maple Grove past Chautauqua Lake 21-8 in Division 2 play.

Gavin Darr was 3 for 4 with an RBI and five runs scored; Jaxon Kraft went 2 for 2 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored; and Liam Price was 2 for 4 with a double and three runs scored for the Red Dragons (9-4, 8-2).

For the Eagles (8-5, 6-5), Clayton Smith went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a run scored; Michael Jauss was 2 for 4 with two RBIs; and Logan Fuller was 2 for 4 with three runs scored.

NEUBAUER TOSSES 8-INNING GEM

SALAMANCA — Cody Neubauer scattered six hits over eight innings as Silver Creek/Forestville tied Salamanca in the top of the seventh and then beat the Warriors in the eighth 4-2 in Division 1 play.

Neubauer navigated the extra-inning outing with 117 pitches, striking out 15 while walking three.

Offensively for the Black Knights (8-5, 6-4), Ryan Skinner tripled twice, N Reynolds tripled and Damon Bell went 2 for 5 with a double. Collin Morabito had two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

For Salamanca (8-9, 1-8), Payton Bradley went 3 for 4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored while Madden Wolfe doubled and drove in a run.

WESTFIELD WINS IN 8 INNINGS

BROCTON — Westfield scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to beat Brocton/Cassadaga Valley 8-6 in Division 2 action.

Joey Russo led off the eighth with a single and stole second before a pair of strikeouts. With two outs, Logan Baum reached on an error, allowing Russo to score from second base and Nolan Anderson followed with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the eighth, Drew Gustafson walked and Anthony Gatto singled with one out, but a flyout and a strikeout ended the game.

Baum went 2 for 4 with two runs scored; Paolo Lescano and Trent Ramm each had two hits, an RBI and a run scored; Russo scored twice; and Ian Kindermann doubled with a pair of RBIs for the Wolverines (7-3, 7-3). Russo and Baum combined for 12 strikeouts on the mound.

For the Bulldogs (7-6, 6-4), Gatto went 3 for 5 with two RBIs and a run scored while Nico Blattenberger doubled and scored a run. Jackson Crowell and Nick Sweet combined for 14 strikeouts.
