PANAMA — Westfield entered Monday’s Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 matchup with Clymer/Sherman/Panama having already clinched at least a share of its first league title since 2017.

The Wolverines wanted it to themselves, but the Wolfpack didn’t allow it, winning 10-6.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama (5-10, 5-7) took a 4-0 lead after two innings. Gavin Burchanowski reached on an error, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Mason Groters groundout in the first. In the second, Daniel Redlecki reached on an error, Ray Rodriguez was hit by a pitch with one out, Burchanowski walked to load the bases and Max White walked to force in a run. Groters was then hit by a pitch to make it 3-0 and Micaleb Anderson hit an RBI groundout.

The Wolfpack added their final six runs in the fourth. Burchanowski and White walked to open the inning before Burchanowski stole third and scored on an error. After Groters walked, Anderson hit an RBI single to make it 6-2 and Johnny Abers was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jeffery Perry hit an RBI single, Evan Conklin walked, Rodriguez drew a bases-loaded walk, Burchanowski drew a bases-loaded walk and Conklin scored on a wild pitch.

In the seventh, Westfield’s Joey Russo reached on an error and Ramm doubled with one out before Baum’s two-run single.

Burchanowski threw a complete game with seven strikeouts and one walk for the Wolfpack. He also reached base four times and scored three runs. Perry had a pair of singles.

Russo, Baum and Stein combined to strike out six, walk nine and hit five batters on the mound for the Wolverines. Baum was 3 for 4 with two RBIs while Paolo Lescano had a pair of singles.

STENSTROM STYMIES RANDOLPH

FALCONER — Erik Stenstrom tossed a gem Monday.

The junior right-hander didn’t allow a hit and his teammates provided plenty of offensive support to spark Falconer to a 9-1 victory over Randolph in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 baseball game at Denny Meszaros Field.

The win improved the Golden Falcons’ record to 11-3 overall and 11-3 in the division, while the Cardinals dropped to 11-5 and 10-4.

The only blemish on Stenstrom’s outing came in the second inning when Randolph scored its lone run on a passed ball. After that, it was all Falconer as the hosts scored a run in the third inning and three more in the fourth, and they never looked back.

Gavin Curtis and Isaiah Washington each had two hits for the Golden Falcons, who totaled 11 as a team.

Aidan Taylor was the starter for Randolph and worked into the sixth inning. He struck out five and walked one.
