RANDOLPH — The Southwestern track and field teams shined in the Section VI Class C track and field championships on Friday at Randolph High School. The girls dominated the competition with seven victories en route to claiming the team title with 134.5 points, while the boys won three events and finished second to Tapestry with 84 points.

The Southwestern girls had two double-winners with Marlana Cresanti winning the 200 (26.09) and 400 meters (59.32), then Mikayla Johnson claimed the throwing titles with wins in shot put (49-9.75) and discus (125-10). The Trojans also won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays, while M’Kenzie Zavala took home the 100 hurdles (16.62) title.

Reece Addesa was a double-winner for Akron, claiming the 1,500 (5:04.29) and the 800 (2:29.33). Silver Creek/Forestville’s Molly Shaw picked up a win in the 400 hurdles (1:06.52) and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley’s Mary Lundmark won the pole vault (9-0).

The Southwestern boys were powered by wins from Ryan Ohl in the 400 (48.92), Leo Kavic in the shot put (50-2.50) and Tyler McIntyre in the discus (144-8). Ohl’s victory surpassed the state’s super standard, punching his ticket to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C championships next month.

Tapestry bested the Trojans with a team total of 105 points and the driving force was quadruple-winner Yuset Bandomo Bosch claiming the 3,000 steeplechase (10:26.02), 1,600 (4:59.64), 800 (2:07.97) and the 3,200 (10:28.37).

Nathan Mays was a double-winner for Silver Creek/Forestville taking the 110 hurdles (15.81) and high jump (6-2), while Sam Bowers won the 200 (22.73) for the Black Knights. Tysen McCaa won a pair of events for Royalton-Hartland, taking the long jump (22-4) and triple jump (42-4).

Max Parmentier completed the Falconer/Cassadaga Valley sweep in the pole vault with a jump of 12-9.
