FALCONER — Frewsburg scored twice in the top of the first inning, but that would be the only lead as Falconer scratched across two in the first and 12 more runs for an eventual 14-2 Section VI Class C prequarterfinal softball victory on Tuesday.
Falconer had plenty of baserunners and Khloe Livengood cashed in with 5 RBIs, hitting 3 for 4 with a double. Hannah Melquist drove in another three runs hitting 2 for 2 with two doubles and three runs scored, Emily Zaranek hit 3 for 4 with three runs scored, Mylie Zaranek hit 3 for 4 with a double and four runs scored, Emily Rhinehart hit 2 for 2 with a double and two runs scored and Payton Smith added a double.

WOLFPACK SURVIVES RANDOLPH
CLYMER — It wasn’t pretty, but the Clymer/Sherman/Panama girls softball team avoided an upset against the No. 11 Randolph Cardinals in the Section VI Class C prequarterfinals on Tuesday.
With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Clymer/Sherman/Panama put the game-winning run in scoring position when Keira Kinal reached on an error and moved to second on a wild pitch. A strikeout threatened extra innings, but Tayler Pinzok connected with two outs and Randolph committed its third error of the inning to allow Kinal to score and slip into the quarterfinals with a 2-1 victory.
Randolph junior pitcher Grace Arnold-Hill had the Wolfpack on their heels, striking out eight batters, giving up just three hits and no earned runs in her 6 2/3 innings of work.
Clymer/Sherman/Panama did get on the board first when Harleigh Faulkner connected on one of her team’s three singles, stole second and scored when a ball hit by Elli Bodamer led to an error.

Randolph got its run back in the top of the sixth when freshman Delaney Walters reached base on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Another error moved her to third, but with two outs Peyton Roberts was able to drive home the lone Randolph run with a single.
Elli Bodamer was just as dominant in the circle for Clymer/Sherman/Panama, matching Arnold-Hill with eight strikeouts and just three hits, but the Wolfpack only committed two errors in the field and the Cardinals made seven errors in the loss.
Randolph finishes its season with a 5-8 record and No. 6 Clymer/Sherman/Panama (10-2) advances to the quarterfinals against No. 3 Chautauqua Lake on Thursday at 5 p.m.
HODKIN NO-HITS JFK FOR FREDONIA
FREDONIA — Between Jordan Lucas and Danielle Palisin the Fredonia softball team has dominated the circle and Class B in Section VI winning the last four titles.
The 4-seeded Hillbillies entered the playoffs with inexperience at the most important position, but found familiar results with freshman McKella Hodkin tossing a no-hitter as Fredonia rolled No. 13 JFK 14-2.
“She’s a freshman, but very poised,” Fredonia head coach Joe Pucciarelli said about Hodkin. “She throws a lot of strikes with a lot of spin on the ball and we have a very good defense behind her. Nothing really rattles her.”
Hodkin struck out nine batters and walked three as errors and free passes allowed JFK to get on the board.
Fredonia did not need much offense for the win, but got it anyways with Jenna Fryberger leading the charge hitting 2 for 3 with a double and a triple and Ava Muck hit 2 for 3 with a double.
“It was a good game to start the playoffs,” Puciarelli added. “Most of our girls got four at bats and we got jayvee batters at bats to make them a little more comfortable.”
Emily Witnauer was the losing pitcher for JFK as she had her hands full with a potent Fredonia lineup.
“Being aggressive with our at bats,” Puciarelli said about his offense’s approach in the playoffs. “When we swing, keep the positive attitude at the plate and today was a good start.”
Fredonia (15-3) will host No. 5 Royalton-Hartland (10-5) in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 5 p.m. as the Rams got past Salamanca 4-3 in Tuesday’s quarterfinal.
“It’s one game at a time,” Pucciarelli said about Thursday’s matchup. “We played Salamanca and beat them twice during the season (12-1 and 7-0). Anything can happen in the playoffs, but I feel pretty confident about it.”
