Lumia earns top seed in 400 hurdles at ECICs
EAST AURORA — Jamestown sophomore Beckett Lumia earned the top seed in the 400-meter hurdles at the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Track & Field championships this morning after running a top preliminary time of 57.55 on Friday at East Aurora High School.
Lumia is seeded over 0.5 seconds faster than Orchard Park senior Andrew Fuentes at 58.10 and Williamsville North sophomore Ryan Kathman at 58.22. Jamestown junior Braiden Kennedy will join Lumia in the finals today after running a time of 58.83.
Clevon Wofford reached the podium for the Red & Green in the 800 finals Friday with a time of 1:57.97 for third place. Lancaster’s Noah Okeke won the event with a time of 1:55.83 and East Aurora’s Jonah Seybolt narrowly grabbed second at 1:57.81.
The remaining finals will run today with several members of the Red & Green eyeing spots on the podium.
Lumia will compete in two finals today as he added the 100 meters and he will be joined by Angel Martinez who qualified for both the 100 and 200 final.
