Kent claims Opera House 5K title

FREDONIA — The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center recently held its ninth annual 1891 Run, a 5K run/walk fundraiser that benefits the theatre’s general operations and programming.

Medals were awarded to the top three male and female finishers overall and to the top three male and female finishers in various age brackets. Those earning medals as the top overall finishers, and their times, are: Cody Kent (age 19, Kennedy), first overall male, with a time of 16:47; Ed Mercado (age 20, Lakeview), second overall male, 18:21; Christopher Phelps (age 13, Ripley), third overall male, 18:21; Rosie Williamson (age 37, Erie, Pennsylvania), first overall female, 20:29; Sandra Leary (age 41, Fredonia), second overall female, 21:20; and Gabrielle Hart (age 29, Dunkirk), third overall female, 23:46.

Rick Davis, 1891 Fredonia Opera House executive director, noted that more than 140 runners and walkers registered for this year’s run with participants coming from throughout western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania.

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is a member-supported not-for-profit performing arts center with a mission to “present the performing arts for the benefit of our community and region … providing access to artistic diversity … and high-quality programming at an affordable price.” It is located in Village Hall in downtown Fredonia.
