Gowanda Baseball Blanks Ellicottville In Doubleheader

GOWANDA — The Gowanda baseball team secured two shutout wins in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Divison 3 doubleheader against Ellicottville on Wednesday.

GAME 1

Despite just mustering one hit in the first leg of the doubleheader, Gowanda defeated Ellicottville 4-0 after plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning with the Eagles making four errors in the contest.

Jayden Fish had the lone hit for the Panthers, while Aidan Geiger and Noah Lauer combined for 11 strikeouts and gave up just two hits each on the mound.

Ellicottville scattered four hits, but could not scratch anyone across home plate. Rylan Benjamin gave up just one hit, walked four batters and struck out four in the decision without surrendering an earned run.

GAME 2

The Gowanda (11-2, 11-0) bats woke up in the second contest, smacking 11 hits with Carter Capozzi going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the 7-0 win.

Aidan Geiger hit 2 for 3 and Drew Kota scored twice, while Seth Geiger gave up just two hits and struck out 10 in the win.

Ellicottville (8-4, 5-4) struck out four Gowanda batters in the loss.
