STONY BROOK — The Flyers Gymnastics Level 6 competitive team members recently attended their state meet. All three girls had an incredible competition earning several state medals, including gold and silver.

Kamille Garza, competing in the Senior B age group, claimed the state championship on bars with a 9.425, and capturedsilver on beam (9.375) and in the all-around (37.00). She also earned seventh place on floor with a 9.4. Garza’s all around earned her a trip to regionals in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she will compete against other gymnasts from Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont.

In the Junior A age group, Evelyn Miller grabbed a state medal in every event — seventh on vault (8.95), 10th on bars (8.6), sixth on beam (9.2), second on floor (9.5), and sixth all-around 36.25. In the Senior A age group, Avery Armella earned sixth on bars (8.925), eighth on floor (9.3) and ninth all-around (35.625).
