St. Bonaventure University introduced Mike MacDonald, second from right, as its new men’s basketball coach on Wednesday at the Reilly Center. Joining him in the photo above are, from the left, Bob Beretta, St. Bonaventure athletic director; Maura MacDonald, Mike’s wife; Dr. Jeff Gingerich, university president. MacDonald’s previous coaching stops were at Canisius University, Medaille University and, for the last 12 seasons, Daemen University where he posted a 61-3 record the last two campaigns, including a trip to the Elite Eight this year. A 1988 St. Bonaventure graduate, MacDonald is the only coach in college basketball history with 100 wins at the Division I, II and III levels. He replaces Mark Schmidt, the winningest coach in school history.
