North Collins, Falconer, Ellicottville Claim Softball Wins

BROCTON — Kallie Emke racked up 13 strikeouts as North Collins defeated Brocton 9-2 in nonleague softball action on Thursday.

Morgan Kreinheder led the North Collins (1-0) offense with a double.

Brocton (0-1) received a triple from Paige Miller and Nevaeh Hebner struck out six batters from inside the circle.

GOLDEN FALCONS ROLL HUSKIES

FALCONER — Rachael Swanson connected on two hits and had 3 RBIs as Falconer shut out Olean 16-0 in nonleague play to give head coach Emily Hair a win in her debut.

Payton Smith added a three-RBI triple for Falconer (1-0), Emily Zaranek had two hits and Payton Smith walked and had one hit. Emily Rhinehart earned the win in the circle after three innings of work with six strikeouts, one walk and two hits against.

Olean (1-2) had a hit each from Anna Bates and Mallory Carter, while Tiana Maine had three strikeouts in the circle.

EAGLES CRUISE

SALAMANCA — Katie Lafferty struck out 11 batters and gave up just one hit in five innings of work as Ellicottville shut out Salamanca 13-0 in nonleague action.

The Eagles (2-1) were led by Ande Northrup batting 3 for 3 with two runs scored, both Riley Whitmer and Keira Baldwin hit 2 for 3 and Karle Northrup and Lafferty scored twice each.

The loss is the first for Salamanca (2-1).
