The Lakeshore Youth Football & Cheerleading League is taking a major step forward for the 2026 season, announcing its first-ever leaguewide registration event set for Monday from 6-8 p.m. The unified signup initiative represents a significant milestone for youth athletics across the region, bringing together communities under one coordinated effort to grow participation and strengthen the future of local sports.

The Lakeshore League includes programs from Bemus Point, Cassadaga, Chautauqua Lake, Clymer/Sherman/Panama, Falconer, Fredonia, Frewsburg, Pine Valley, Seneca, Silver Creek, Southwestern and Westfield/Brocton. By aligning registration efforts, the organization aims to make it easier for families to get involved while showcasing the strength and unity of youth football and cheerleading throughout our communities.

“May 4 from 6-8 is going to be a big day for our league,” said Amanda Braley, a member of the Lakeshore Youth Football & Cheerleading board. “For the first time, our communities are coming together for a leaguewide registration event. It reflects not only our growth, but our commitment to giving athletes more opportunities to participate and succeed in both football and cheerleading. Our program is open to children ages 5-11 with age as of Aug. 1, 2026.”

The growth of youth football and cheer in the region has been steadily rising and impactful to many children in our area, according to the league’s leadership. Increased participation at the youth level plays a critical role in sustaining and strengthening high school football and cheer programs. As more children are introduced to the sport at an early age, they develop fundamental skills, game knowledge, and a passion that carries into their middle and high school years.

Beyond football and cheerleading, the benefits extend across the entire athletic landscape of our communities. Youth sports help build discipline, teamwork, leadership, and physical qualities that translate into success in other sports and activities. These programs provide valuable opportunities for young athletes to build confidence, coordination, and school spirit. Strong youth programs are often the foundation of successful high school athletics. When student athletes enter middle and high school with prior experience and a solid understanding of teamwork and commitment, coaches are able to build more competitive and cohesive teams. This not only improves performance on the field, but also strengthens school pride and community engagement.

The upcoming leaguewide registration is designed to be accessible and welcoming for all families, whether their children are new to the sport or returning players and cheerleaders. Representatives from each program will be available to answer questions, provide information and assist with the registration process.

As Lakeshore Youth Football & Cheerleading continues to grow, the league hopes this unified effort will further increase participation and ensure the long term success of football and cheerleading programs throughout the region. Families interested in registering are encouraged to attend their team’s May 4 event from 6-8 p.m. and become part of a growing tradition that is shaping the future of local athletics.
