Hilliker, Tofil Lead Way In Wednesday Travel League With Low Round At CHGC

RUSSELL, Pa. — The Wednesday Travel League teed off on its 48th season, beginning the 2026 schedule at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

Josh Hilliker, last year’s overall points champion, picked up right where he ended 2025, making birdie on the first hole. Hilliker and Ed Tofil tied for the low round with 80s. Tofil was the overall winner with a birdie on the No. 1-handicap hole. Ryan Tofil finished third with 87. John Waterman was the B Flight champion. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Don Kujawa.

United birdies were recorded by: A Flight, Hilliker (Nos. 1, 9, 14, 18); Gary Haase (No. 6); Dave Franklin (No. 10); Ed Tofil (No. 13); Ryan Tofil (No. 16); and Dave Wallace (No. 17); B Flight, Waterman (holed out from 65 yds out on No. 3, also birdied No. 4 and No. 18); Bob Kujawa (Nos. 5, 10); Pete Pinkoski (Nos. 11, 13); and Dan Franklin (No. 12).

Closest to the pin were Ed Tofil (Nos. 2, 5, 11); Pinkoski (No. 13); and Wallace (No. 17). Winners of the Steeplechase were Ed Tofil in A Flight and Pinkoski in B Flight.

Top point winners were Ed Tofil (38), Hilliker (21), and Wallace and Pinkoski (17 each). Season points leaders (through 1 event): 1. Ed Tofil (38), 2. Hilliker (21), 3. Wallace and Pinkoski (17 each), 5. Waterman (14), 6. Dave Franklin and Bob Kujawa (6 each), 8. Ryan Tofil, Haase and Dan Franklin (3 each).

This week the league returns to Cable Hollow for a 10 a.m. start. Golfers are asked to be signed up by 10 a.m. Monday.
