Golden Falcons Drop 2-1 Decision To Franklinville In Extras
FALCONER — After tying the contest 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning, Franklinville scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth with a bases-loaded walk that scored Kaelyann Graves-Decker, leading to a 2-1 Chautuauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 4 softball victory Tuesday.
Graves-Decker scored the game-winning run, putting a stamp on a game in which she stymied the Golden Falcons from the circle for nine innings giving up three hits and striking out 14 batters. Franklinville (6-1, 4-1) received an RBI double from Mya Sullivan and Aliah Range hit 2 for 3.
Giada Schauman scored the lone run for Falconer (7-1, 3-1), while Emily Rhinehart struck out 15 batters and gave up just five hits and one earned run.
SILVER CREEK PREVAILS
GOWANDA — Maddy Blair hit a home run and drove in three runs as Silver Creek established an early lead that was enough to get past Gowanda 12-10 in Division 3 action.
Kyla Ziegler hit 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and scored three times for Silver Creek (5-2, 4-1), Priya Sakpal went 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI and Madisen Hein drove in two runs. Blair hung on for the win in the circle with six strikeouts.
Corrina John hit 2 for 4 with an RBI for Gowanda (3-4, 2-2), Addison Kota hit 2 for 5 with an RBI and Sophia Bobseine finished 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Kota took the loss in the circle while punching six strikeouts.
TROJANS ROLL RED & GREEN
Arianna Silakowski scored three times herself and shut the door from the circle with 12 strikeouts and just three hits over six innings as Southwestern defeated Jamestown 14-1 in Division 1 action.
Lily Williams-Jones hit a double and drove in three runs for Southwestern (4-6, 3-3), Katelyn Casel hit 1 for 2 and added another 3 RBIs, Leala Carlson went 2 for 3 with three runs scored and Madi Burnett finished 2 for 4 with another two runs scored.
Emily Maggio scored the lone run for Jamestown (1-5, 0-4), while also striking out nine batters from the circle.
WARRIORS RUN BY DUNKIRK
SALAMANCA — Charli Ross hit 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and 2 RBIs to lead Salamanca past Dunkirk 13-1 in Division 1.
Ross also gave up just two hits from the circle and struck out another two batters in five innings of work for the Salamanca (3-6, 1-4) win, Ella Martens and Delaney Haley added two RBIs each.
Gracie Grann hit 1 for 2 and scored the lone run for Dunkirk (1-5, 0-3).
EAGLES EDGE NORTH COLLINS
ELLICOTTVILLE — Katie Lafferty gave up just three hits and struck out 13 as Ellicottville held off North Collins 5-4 in Division 4 action.
Teaghan Finn added a double for Ellicottville (6-2, 4-1).
North Collins (4-4, 1-3) was led by Lily Montaldi with a home run and 2 RBIs, Mya Tanis went 1 for 3 with an RBI and seventh-grader Kallie Emke struck out five batters and gave up just three earned runs on six hits.
HORNETS OUST RANDOLPH
FORESTVILLE — Emily Lillie hit a double and drove in three runs to lead Forestville past Randolph 8-5 in Division 3 action.
Alexandra Kerstetter added another 2 RBIs for Forestville (5-1, 5-0), Madison Christian hit 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Ava Schwerk added a double and Carilene Sliwa hit 3 for 4 with two runs scored. Elizabeth Case and Kerstetter split duties in the circle with two and five strikeouts, respectively.
Randolph (2-4, 1-3) was led by Ava Sears hitting 1 for 2 with a double and 2 RBIs, Mallory Smallback added a double and Hannah Hill took the loss in the circle.
PINE VALLEY RALLIES
SOUTH DAYTON — Pine Valley scored 10 unanswered runs after the fourth inning to defeat Brocton 10-4 in Division 3.
Carlie Ward hit 3 for 5 with a double and 5 RBIs for Pine Valley (1-3, 1-3), Sandy Ivett hit 2 for 3 with two runs scored, Brooke Dustin-McCoy hit 2 for 4 with two runs and Saphera Lindquist hit 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Madilynn Robertson earned the win in the circle with three strikeouts and seven hits.
Brocton (1-7, 0-4) was led by Paige Miller with 2 RBIs, Victoria Battaglia hit 2 for 4 with a run scored and Navaeh Hebner struck out eight batters in the circle.
