Engquist Lifts JHS To First Victory
CONWAY, S.C. — Ryan Engquist had himself a day.
The Jamestown sophomore allowed one earned run over five innings and helped his own cause with two hits and three RBIs to send the Red & Green to a 13-3 six-inning victory over Doddridge, West Virginia in the South Atlantic Bank Invitational at Conway High School on Thursday.
The win improved Jamestown’s record to 1-2 on the southern trip. It will play another game today against an opponent to be announced.
The Red & Green, which scored four runs in the third inning and seven more in the fifth, were also aided offensively by Karson Milne (two RBIs), Carter Rizzuto (one RBI) and Julian Jackson (double, two RBIs) with two hits apiece.
On the mound, Engquist, the winning pitcher, struck out four and walked one before giving way to Jayden Rodriguez, who fanned one in his one inning of work.
