Warrior Is POY In Div. 3
For the first time in years, a Randolph Cardinal is not the Player of the Year in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 boys basketball.
Gowanda junior Trelin Warrior has been bestowed that honor after averaging 18.6 points per game for the Panthers.
Kevin Hind was once again named the league’s Coach of the Year after Randolph ran the table to a 10-0 league record.
Joining Warrior on the league’s First Team was senior teammate Seth Geiger, who averaged 12.8 points per game.
Randolph placed three players on the First Team. Senior Broden Brooks averaged 14.9 points per game, freshman Syrai Johnson averaged 17.5 points per game and senior Kevin McElwain averaged 11.3 points per game.
Portville senior Aidan DeFazio was the final member of the First Team after averaging 18.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.8 steals per game.
Frewsburg placed two players on the Second Team. Junior Isaac Hultberg averaged 9.7 points, 4.8 stalls, 3.9 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game, while senior Trent Lewis averaged 10.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game.
Cassadaga Valley freshman Mason Debo averaged 13.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.8 blocked shots and 1.4 steals per game; Portville junior Peyton Carter averaged 10.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game; and Silver Creek senior Alan Hoelzle averaged 10.5 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.9 blocked shots and 1.3 steals per game to round out the Second Team.
Frewsburg earned the Team Sportsmanship Award.
