State Indoor Track & Field Concludes In Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND — The New York State Public High School Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships concluded Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

The top area finisher was Ethan Verbosky of Falconer/Maple Grove/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg/Randolph, who finished 10th in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 30.44 seconds, which was four seconds behind the winner.

Following are the other results and place finishes for the remaining local athletes: Dunkirk/Silver Creek/Forestville’s Nate Mays, tied for 14th in the long jump (21 feet, 9.5 inches) and finished 26th in the high jump (6-0); teammate Sam Bowers was 26th in the 300-meter preliminaries (35.89); Jamestown’s Becket Lumia was 17th in the 300-meter preliminaries (35.28); Jamestown’s Jorge Rivera Jr was 28th in the high jump (5-10); Jamestown’s Tyler Tellez was tied for 24th in the pole vault (12-0); and Ty Kraft of Falconer/Maple Grove/Cassadaga Valley/Frewsburg/Randolph was 28th in the 600 meters (1:25.41).
