TROY – Frewsburg is heading back to the state championship game.
Junior Jadyn Trocki had 20 points, seven rebounds and four steals, but her Bears teammates were the story in the second half as the defending champions beat Delaware Academy 57-30 in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C semifinals Friday morning at Hudson Valley Community College.
Frewsburg will look for its second straight state title at 6 p.m. Saturday evening when they take on the winner of Friday’s second semifinal. Section II’s Greenwich took on Section I’s Tuckahoe for the right to be the Bears’ opponent.
It’s likely one of those teams will prove to be a more difficult opponent than the Bulldogs were Friday.
Frewsburg led 18-4 after the first quarter and 32-11 at halftime on the strength of 16 points from Trocki while holding Delaware Academy to just 4-of-23 shooting from the field.
