Week 1 of the Northwest Arena Spring Curling League sponsored by Dot’s Gift Boutique saw the houses packed with all 28 teams competing.
MONDAY 5:45 LEAGUE
Cold Beer Here started off the season showing offensive craftsmanship. Steve Tanner and Zach Muntz clicked on all cylinders against GWS 45-40 and Head for the Mountains 51-42.
Jody Lehman, Bev Caldwell and Better Than Last Year picked up a clean sweep of Curling Cousins 49-33 and Drunken Sliders 38-28.
We Love Beer clocked out with a pair of victories over Fruit of the Brooms 47-34 and The A-Team 40-28.
Daryl Damcott and Head for the Mountains showed no mercy with MARKSMEN 57-35.
Steve Cramer executed down the stretch as Fruit of the Brooms held off Gemstones 53-50.
Steve Lindquist and Gemstones fought off MARKSMEN 28-27 for a split.
Sue Whiteman and Curling Cousins were triumphant in the most thrilling game of the night, as they topped Curling Hares 48-47 in an overtime classic.
Autumn Mazzone and Drunken Sliders knocked off GWS 43-32.
Nancy Welker and Kubota Krew had no issues with Sled Shed Stoners 45-22.
Brian Collins and Sled Shed Stoners corralled themselves to put away The A-Team 31-21.
MONDAY 6:45 LEAGUE
Stuart Curl or Die made light work of the competition on Monday. After demolishing Las Rocas Grandes 53-27, they shut down Perfect Stones 32-22.
Brandon Rowley was a one man wrecking crew for The Flintstones. He put the team on his back to take down Frozen Assets 29-20 and Hillbilly Sliders 28-23.
George Panebianco and In the House crushed Monday C’s 58-19.
Alex Sullivan and Rookies Mafia made a tough night worse for Monday C’s 41-25.
JC McCroskey, making his curling debut, delivered the game winner for Carry on Wayward Stone against Slice Mafia 35-34.
Nick Rein and Slice Mafia countered the loss by finishing off In the House 29-27.
Glenn Wilcock piloted Perfect Stones past Bottomland Bandits 31-17.
Brian Westerdahl and Bottomland Bandits fended off a late surge from Hillbilly Sliders 44-32.
Adolph Avery led the attack for Rand Machine against Rookies Mafia 33-28.
Chris Filkins called his own name in clutch time to write off Carry on Wayward Stone 33-28.
