6 Eagles Named CCAA D1 First Team All-Stars

The Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer boys wrestling team finished another undefeated season in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action, won the Section VI Division 1 team title, captured a pair of individual Section VI Division 2 titles and sent three total wrestlers to the state championships.
With such success it comes as no surprise that six of the 14 First-Team all-star selections for CCAA Division 1 are Eagles.
Junior Thandon Bensink earned his spot at 132 pounds after capturing the sectional title and taking eighth at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Division 2 championships and finishing the season with an impressive 38-8 record. Sophomore Alex Bourgeois won the Section VI championship at 144 pounds and finished the year with a 29-11 record. Junior Colton Hamilton joined them at states, was the runnerup in Section VI at 215 pounds, took seventh on the podium at the state championships and finished his season with a 37-9 record.
Joining them on the First Team are eighth-grader Chester Machemer, who finished with a 36-10 record at 103 pounds; sophomore Jordin Eddy, who went 24-16 at 150 pounds; and junior Toby Watson, who went 34-9 at 165 pounds.
Representing the Eagles on the Second Team are eighth-grader Chase Shirley at 103 pounds, junior Gavin Burchanowski at 138 pounds, junior Mason Munoz at 157 pounds, sophomore Tristen Gibbs at 175 pounds and junior Walter Lukasiak at 285 pounds.

Southwestern sent four wrestlers to the state tournament and all four were named to the First Team.
Returning to Southwestern for his senior season, Tavio Hoose went out on a high note at 190 pounds by capturing the Division 2 sectional and state title with a 29-5 record. Senior Adrian Torres reached the state final for the second straight year, finishing as runnerup at the Section VI and state championship at 110 pounds with a 41-10 record. Junior Miles Torres won the Section VI title at 118 pounds and finished eighth in the state with a 30-8 record. Senior Carmine Calimeri made a fifth trip to the state tournament, capturing the Section VI 138-pound Division 2 title and finished the season with a 37-9 record.
Senior Brayden Potter earned a spot on the Second Team at 215 pounds.
Falconer/Cassadaga Valley finished second in the league and sent a pair of wrestlers to the state championships with both making the podium. Three Golden Cougars were named to the league’s First Team.
Junior Dylan Newman captured the team’s only sectional title, winning his third straight before taking fifth place at 126 pounds in the Division 2 state championships. Newman finished the season with a 43-10 record.

Junior Noah Brandt earned a selection at 157 pounds with a 20-10 record and senior Riley Best claimed his spot at 175 pounds with a 34-12 record.
Junior Patrick Braley was named to the Second Team after he earned fifth at states, but it was done at 190 pounds where he lost in both the sectional and state tournament to Hoose. He was joined on the Second Team by fellow junior Nick Russell at 150 pounds.
Salamanca sophomore Kasen Hardy rounded out the First Team at 285 pounds after capturing the sectional title, placing seventh at states and boasting a 39-6 record.
Salamanca added junior Conner Seeley to the Second Team at 165 pounds.
Fredonia/Forestville/Silver Creek senior Jomar Quiles and Rocco Muscarella were named to the Second Team at 110 pounds and 126 pounds respectively.

Olean/Allegany-Limestone landed a pair of Second Team selections with junior Camren Driscoll at 118 pounds and junior Jack Aderman at 132 pounds.
Dunkirk junior Timothy Warrior rounds out the Second Team at 144 pounds.
