Sears Leads Randolph To Nonleague Victory Over JHS

RANDOLPH — Ava Sears scored 21 points, and collected three assists and three steals to lead Randolph to a 54-44 nonleague girls basketball victory over Jamestown on Saturday.

Tessa Brown chipped in 11 points, six rebounds and two assists; Ryanne Bushey scored 9 points and grabbed 12 rebounds; and Gianna Bowles collected 5 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and five steals for the Cardinals (10-5), who led 21-20 at halftime and 41-37 after three quarters.

For the Red & Green (9-6), Payton Gibbs scored 15 points and Makena Pryce chipped in 8.

TROJANS FALL

Southwestern dropped a 43-33 decision to Lancaster in a nonleague game.

The Trojans led 18-10 after the first quarter, but were outscored 33-15 the rest of the way.

Jada Edwards paced the Trojans (12-5) with 12 points. Gianna Sirianni added 9 points, and Charlotte Beaver had 8 points and seven rebounds. Marlana Cresanti grabbed nine rebounds in the loss

The win improved the Legends’ record to 12-5.

EDGE RED DRAGONS

ELLERY — Behind 12 points from Maddie Burgess and 11 points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists from Nahlia Douglas, Westfield held off Maple Grove 39-36 in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 game.

The Red Dragons’ Alex Halstrom hit a 3-pointer in the closing minute to make it a three-point game, but after a Wolverines turnover, Maple Grove’s final desperation 3-point attempt missed the mark.

Morgan Caldwell led the Red Dragons (8-9, 4-6) with 12 points and Bry Cornell had 10.

The win improved the Wolverines to 12-5 overall and 7-4 in the division.

SLIWA HAS BIG 3RD QUARTER FOR HORNETS

FORESTVILLE — Carilene Sliwa scored 14 points during a 23-9 third quarter as Forestville took control of a 53-39 Division 4 win over Ellicottville (7-9, 5-3)

Sliwa finished with a game-high 27 points; Ingrid Gibson had 11 points and eight rebounds; and Elizabeth Case grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for the Hornets (9-4, 5-2).

Ande Northrup led the Eagles (7-9, 5-3) with 19 points, including five 3-pointers, while Karle Northrup had 10 points.
