Frewsburg Captures Second Straight Sectional Title

Cassadaga Valley's Nickerson Qualifies For States

CHEEKTOWAGA — Frewsburg won its second straight Section VI Class D title and third in program history at the Small School girls bowling sectional championships Thursday at Airport Lanes.

The Bears rolled a six-game total of 814-844-796-728-777-679-4,638 to beat Forestville by 189 pins.

Hinsdale’s Madison Rondeau earned the individual Small School title with a 236-200-212-234-257-223-1,362 to best the field by 115 pins.

Cassadaga Valley’s Emma Nickerson qualified for next month’s state championships with a fourth-place finish. She rolled a 167-202-171-212-224-249-1,225.

The other individuals to make up the Division 2 squad heading to states are: Maryvale’s Lily Jones (184-182-236-198-242-205-1,247), Da Vinci’s Madison Dunbar (169-213-269-231-177-181-1,240), Depew’s Emma Felton (237-188-245-188-185-174-1,217) and Pioneer’s Kaylee Arnold (156-176-192-263-162-213-1,162).

Frewsburg was led by Kelsey Fischer, who rolled a 165-159-225-177-234-139-1,099. Other Bears’ scores included: Khloe Duffy (181-210-126-138-136-156-947), Jessica Estabrook (197-153-154-160-137-133-934), Aubrie Newburg (127-178-128-136-138-131-838), Haylie Spoon (138-144-91-117-132-120-742) and Trinity Wiltsie (133-120-163-105-127-648). Marleigh Baker rolled the sixth game instead of Wiltsie and had a 51.

Forestville finished second in Class D with a 697-705-753-791-734-769-4,449. Emily Lillie paced the Hornets with a 164-161-169-221-172-186-1,073, followed by Alexandra Kerstetter (169-146-168-224-157-180-1,044), Kaylee Adamczak (150-109-158-131-172-153-873), Eliana Cross (109-144-154-96-110-129-742), Avalyn Kwilos (99-114-87-119-123-121-663) and Sophia Smith (105-140-104-104-81-84-514). Sophia Floccari rolled the sixth game instead of Smith and dropped a 112.

Gowanda was third in Class D with a 663-602-687-738-773-720-4,183. The Panthers were led by Bailey Shields, who rolled a 133-125-147-165-203-157-930. Layla Weiskerger had a 153-150-166-140-91-180-880, followed by Lyla Plandowski (135-106-101-156-151-146-795), Lila Pfaffenbach (126-92-114-153-170-129-784) and Ryland Lemke (107-147-114-123-105-596). Tayleigh Williams rolled four games for a 116-114-113-108-451 and Sophee Seneca spun three games of 85-124-126 for a 335.

Falconer finished fifth in Class D with a 739-659-628-682-737-640-4,085. Alexis Cross led the Golden Falcons with a 180-159-150-200-207-181-1,077, followed by Marabella Parsons (162-166-157-116-166-162-929), Lydia Cross (169-124-106-110-117-100-726), Riley Godwin (113-113-109-145-128-97-705), Kayleigh Burdic (115-80-106-111-118-100-630) and Livianna Cersosimo (104-97-100-102-118-79-600).

Clymer/Sherman was seventh in Class D with a 613-631-742-604-605-648-3,843. Aida Fritts led the Wolves with a 147-162-170-125-161-136-901, followed by Maya Seekings (120-119-176-135-105-162-817), Mary Fuller (128-128-174-121-107-121-779), Mia Whitehead (111-116-129-116-147-134-753) and Anabelle Fuller (107-106-93-107-85-95-593).

Fredonia was sixth in Class C with an 833-699-823-692-806-787-4,640. Londyn Wilmot paced the Hillbillies with a 162-167-200-199-142-165-1,035. Emma DuBois spun a 216-134-185-117-170-150-972, followed by Oleysia Batista (154-130-160-152-178-161-935), Moss Kaiser-Callen (143-119-112-201-141-716), Sydney Yerico (158-135-137-112-111-653), Madeline Woelfle (103-118-115-170-506) and Abigail Blair (133-141-112-89-475).

Dunkirk was eighth in Class C with a 620-756-787-700-741-702-4,306. Chloe Sutton led the Marauders with a 137-181-141-169-146-132-906, followed by Gracey Kozlowski (105-177-165-142-149-129-867), Lelia Mills (123-144-167-122-125-153-834), Paige Perry (122-118-148-128-153-148-617), Meghan Kelly (125-136-166-135-128-123-813) and Kierra Mount (113-113-101-126-165-140-758).

Salamanca took 10th in Class C with a 612-621-561-607-602-615-3,618. Emelia Prey led the Warriors with a 166-132-123-157-155-144-877, followed by Kailey Schnittger (142-167-128-135-135-150-857), Kyleigh Rohwer (114-114-97-125-118-94-662), Vililly Solat (102-90-112-104-112-133-653), Alyssa Wilson (79-106-101-86-82-94-548) and Betsy Leyva (88-102-82-86-78-80-516).

Depew won the Division 2 title and its fourth sectional crown with a 1,015-799-881-920-932-873-5,420 to win Class C.

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships will be held March 13-15 at AMF Strike-N-Spare Lanes in Syracuse.
