Trojans Come Out Hot, Beat Falconer

FALCONER — Southwestern drilled nine first-half 3-pointers, built a big lead and cruised to a 68-45 victory over Falconer in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 boys basketball game Friday night.
Roger Markham led the Trojans (7-5, 4-3), who led 40-22 at the break, with 21 points, including five 3-pointers, and Jalen Edwards chipped in 13.
For the Golden Falcons (9-7, 3-5), D’Mitri Carlson scored 11 points, Donovan Delaney had 11 and Max Parmentier chipped in 10.

REILLY HITS BIG SHOT IN OT
FORESTVILLE — Patrick Reilly hit a 3-pointer early in overtime before Manny Sanchez and William Duliba hit free throws to put the game away as Forestville beat Ellicottville 52-47 in Division 4 action.
Duliba scored 20 of his game-high 24 points during the first half as the Hornets (8-4, 4-1) took a 25-20 lead into halftime.
Forestville’s lead grew to as many as 15 in the third quarter, but the Eagles (8-5, 3-2) battled back before Blake Smith’s 3-pointer tied the game at the end of regulation.
But the Hornets outscored Ellicottville 5-1 in overtime.
Reilly finished with 16 points, 14 coming in the second half and overtime. Jack Spengler had 11 rebounds and five blocked shots; Sanchez had five assists and three steals; and Blake Waterman grabbed 19 rebounds.
Smith led the Eagles with 19 points and Parker John had 9.

PIRATES EDGE PANAMA
PANAMA — Three players scored in double figures as Clymer beat Panama 43-37 in Division 2 action.
Carson White and Eli Mitchell scored 11 points apiece while Roman Wassink had 10 for the Pirates (11-5, 8-1).
Clymer led 32-31 entering a back-and-forth fourth quarter. Eventually, Blake Beckerink hit a 3-pointer to break a tie and then hit another one to give the Pirates a six-point lead.
“It was close the whole way down the stretch,” Panama head coach Josh Nelson said. “I think it was their size that ended up being the big factor toward the end of it.”
Michael Horton led the Panthers (7-7, 3-5) with 21 points while Konner Morgan had 11 points. Wyatt Eggleston picked up four steals.

GOWANDA — Syrai Johnson scored 29 points, including five 3-pointers, as Randolph beat Gowanda 51-42 in Division 3 play.
The Cardinals (10-2, 5-0) led 21-20 at halftime before a 17-12 third quarter during which Johnson scored 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Broden Brooks chipped in 12 points for the winners.
Seth Geiger and Trelin Warrior led the Panthers (6-7, 3-3) with 11 points apiece.

CATTARAUGUS — Senior Owen Wright scored a career-high 24 points as Cattaraugus-Little Valley beat Franklinville 61-46 in Division 4 play.
The Timberwolves (11-3, 5-1) led 19-11 after the first quarter before taking command with a 14-7 second quarter. Theron Crawford and Wright both his 3-pointers during the period.
Nyquon Boswell, who scored 10 points in the game, added 8 points during a 19-13 third quarter for Cattaraugus-Little Valley.
Eli Shenk led the Panthers (2-11, 1-5) with 16 points, Mason Blecha had 12 and Oliver Shenk had 10.

WEAVER HITS GO-AHEAD TRIPLE
FREWSBURG — Gavin Weaver hit a go-ahead 3-pointer and Frewsburg held Silver Creek scoreless for the final four-plus minutes en route to a 48-39 Division 3 victory.
The Black Knights (2-10, 1-4) built a 39-34 lead midway through the final period. Down three, the Bears’ Trent Lewis was fouled on a 3-point attempt and made all three shots from the charity stripe to tie the game. Weaver then hit his go-ahead 3-pointer and Lewis later made a lay-in to seal the victory.
Isaac Hultberg led Frewsburg (6-8, 4-2) with 14 points and seven steals to go along with three rebounds. Drake Beckstrom had eight rebounds, four steals and two assists while Lewis had 9 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals.
Jay Buffalo-Cortes led Silver Creek with 13 points while Alan Hoelzle had 8 points and 11 rebounds. Greyson White had 9 points and eight rebounds.
