Sherman Matches Clymer Atop Division 2
CLYMER — Talon Persons hit a runner in the lane to give Sherman a 44-42 lead and the Wildcats hung on late to beat Clymer 44-43 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 boys basketball Tuesday.
The Pirates (10-5, 7-1) led 42-39 before Jacob Ferranto hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 2:25 left. Persons then gave Sherman (9-1, 4-1) a two-point lead with 1:55 remaining.
Eli Mitchell’s free throw pulled Clymer within a point with 1:19 remaining, but the Wildcats’ ensuing possession lasted over a minute, thanks to a kicked ball and a foul, before a shot clock violation gave the ball back to the Pirates with 17 seconds remaining.
Clymer then got an open look at a 3-pointer with 4 seconds remaining, but the shot did not fall.
Ferranto led Sherman with 26 points and Cal Cook added 11.
Mitchell had 12 points and seven rebounds; Carson White had 12 points and four rebounds; Roman Wassink had 9 points, 10 rebounds and two assists; Kameron Einink had 7 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals; and Blake Beckerink had four steals for the Pirates.

HORTON HAS CAREER NIGHT
SOUTH DAYTON — Michael Horton scored a career-high 45 points as Panama jumped out to a big lead and breezed past Pine Valley 74-48 in nonleague action.
Panama led 30-12 after the first quarter.
Horton grabbed seven steals and six rebounds; Brandon Hirsch had nine rebounds; Mason Weber had seven rebounds; and Wyatt Eggleston and Kiedon Graves had five steals apiece.
James Greene had a big night for Pine Valley with a career-high 29 points to go along with 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots.

WESTFIELD — Nolan Anderson led four players in double figures with 18 points as Westfield coasted past Brocton 70-28.
Grant Beadle had 15 points, 21 rebounds and three blocked shots; Braylon Swanson had 12 points and seven assists; Lincoln Thomas had 12 points; and Anderson grabbed eight rebounds for the Wolverines (8-6. 5-2).
Westfield led 31-21 at halftime before a 20-0 third quarter.

Maple Grove (4-11, 2-6) was led by Liam Colburn with 24 points, Aiden Dahlberg had 21 and Austin Mason provided 11.

OLEAN — Fredonia outscored Olean 14-8 in the fourth quarter to rally past Olean 50-47 for a Division 1 victory.
RJ Koopman posted a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Fredonia (14-1, 6-1). Graham Putney provided another 15 points and two assists, Colin Luce had 15 points and three blocks, Ryan Kelly grabbed four steals and Donovan Dowdy had five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
