WILLIAMSVILLE — Billy Miley didn’t mince words when describing the performances of Elijah Farmer and Dominic Gonzalez on Thursday night.

“Elijah and Dom were phenomenal,” the Jamestown head boys basketball coach said. “They really played like the veterans they are in the fourth quarter.”

The senior duo combined for 18 points in the final period when the Red & Green rallied from an eight-point deficit to claim a 74-71 come-from-behind victory over Williamsville North in an Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 game.

The win, Jamestown’s fifth straight, raised its record to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the division, while the Spartans dropped to 5-4 and 1-1.

“It was a really tough game and we battled back great in the second half,” Miley said.

The Red & Green, which shot 32 of 64 from the field, trailed 39-32 at halftime and 60-52 after three quarters, but that’s when Farmer and Gonzalez went to work.

Farmer scored 12 of his game-high 29 points in the period, including a pair of 3-pointers, while Gonzalez added 6 of his 23, including a pull-up baseline jumper with a little more than a minute remaining to break a 70-all tie. Farmer then hit a pair of free throws with 17 seconds left and Jamestown held on for the win.

In addition to his offensive production, Farmer finished with seven rebounds, five assists, a block and two steals. He shot 5 of 8 from beyond the arc. Gonzalez, meanwhile, had three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and four steals. Teammate Gavin Johnson added 10 points and four boards.

For Williamsville North, which shot a blistering 26 of 47 from the field, including 9 of 17 from the arc, Evan Murphy poured in 25 points, Chris Fagan had 19 and Greyson Goehle chipped in 17.

In the junior varsity game, Jamestown fell to the Spartans 50-47 in overtime.

Blake Swanson led the Red & Green (3-3) with 18 points.
