Steinberg’s 30 points help Knights down Girard

RUSSELL — Clara Steinberg led three players in double figures with 30 points as the Eisenhower girls basketball team won a key region game Thursday night, defeating Girard 76-56.
Steinberg had a big opening quarter, tallying 13 points, including three 3-pointers to help the Knights build a 19-9 lead.
The Yellow Jackets, behind 8 points from Leah Pratt, kept the game reasonably close and trailed 36-25 at halftime.
Steinberg continued her hot shooting by draining a pair of treys — she finished with six in the game — and a field goal in the third to increase Eisenhower’s lead to 56-43 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Knights pulled away in the final eight minutes despite the play of Pratt, who finishedwith 26 points.
Joining Steinberg in double figures for Eisenhower were Lainey Font with 17 and Laney Belcher with 12.
