Harvey Lifts Frewsburg Girls Past Amherst In Championship 64-53

FREWSBURG — All-tournament team member Abery Harvey scored 27 points to lead Frewsburg to a 64-53 win over Amherst in the championship game of the Frewsburg Holiday Tournament on Saturday.

Harvey was joined on the all-tournament team by the Bears’ Jadyn Trocki, who chipped in 15 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals.

Amherst’s Ada Radomski was named to the all-tournament team after her team-leading 18-point night and was joined by the Tigers’ Lucy Giordano, who scored 17 points.

Harvey scored 12 points and Trocki added 10 as Frewsburg jumped ahead 25-14 after the first quarter.

Amherst made it an eight-point game at halftime as Giordano scored 8 of her points during a 16-13 second quarter in favor of the Tigers.

But the Bears regained command during a 20-7 third quarter as Jaden Jimerson and Harvey each scored 7 points.

NOTES: Jimerson finished with 12 points and five assists while Elysse Gruber had 10 points, 13 rebounds and four steals for Frewsburg, which shot 25 of 52 from the field, including 3 of 10 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 15 times. … Amherst shot 19 of 56 from the field, including 9 of 25 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 18 times.

CONSOLATION GAME

SOUTHWESTERN 63, SHERMAN 46

Southwestern hit seven 3-pointers during a 25-11 second quarter to pull away from Sherman for a 63-46 win in the consolation game.

Gianna Sirianni led the Trojans with 25 points to go along with four rebounds, three steals and two assists while Charlotte Beaver, who was named to the all-tournament team, added 13 points, six steals, six rebounds and a blocked shot.

The Wildcats were led by all-tournament team selection Baya Oehlbeck, who scored 17 points to go along with three steals.

Southwestern led 12-6 after a sloppy first quarter that saw the teams combine for 14 turnovers. But the Trojans were quicker to correct things offensively, going 9 of 15 from the field, including 7 of 11 from beyond the 3-point arc, to take a 37-17 lead into halftime.

Sherman would cut its deficit to 16 twice in the third quarter, but that is as close as the Wildcats would get the rest of the way.

NOTES: Marlana Cresanti had 12 points, seven rebounds and six steals for Southwestern, which shot 25 of 65 from the field, including 11 of 31 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 17 times. … Ava-Kay Irwin had eight rebounds and Jayne Chambers grabbed five for Sherman, which shot 17 of 45 from the field, including 4 of 14 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 25 times. … The Wildcats played without Emmersen Crawford, their leading scorer, for the second straight day.

DELCAMP NAILS WINNER

FREDONIA — Anna Delcamp hit the game-winning free throw with 3.4 seconds remaining as Fredonia beat Chautauqua Lake 50-49 in nonleague action Saturday.

The Hillbillies took a 42-33 lead into the fourth quarter on the strength of a 19-12 third quarter, but the Eagles outscored the hosts 16-8 in the fourth quarter.

With the game tied at 49 in the closing seconds, Delcamp scored her only point of the game and the Hillbillies were able to hang on at the other end.

Cecelia Tonelli led Fredonia with 19 points and five steals; Madelyn Polhamus had 11 points and three steals; and Isabella Buckley had 9 points and three assists.

Kaylee Tarr led Chautauqua Lake with 17 points and three steals to go along with six rebounds; Eden Ludwig had 10 points and three assists; and Karie Tarr and Brina Jacobson had 9 points and nine rebounds apiece.
