Falconer Boys Lock Down Bears In Title Game For 48-36 Victory

FREWSBURG — Falconer held Frewsburg to 17-of-55 shooting from the floor and forced the Bears into 17 turnovers en route to a 48-36 win in the championship game of the Frewsburg Holiday Tournament on Saturday evening.
Max Parmentier led the Golden Falcons with 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots while Chase Bianco added 10 points and three steals.
Frewsburg was led by all-tournament team members Trent Lewis (13 points, five rebounds, two steals) and Isaac Hultberg (10 points, seven steals, three assists, three rebounds).
Falconer led 11-8 after the first quarter, but pulled away with a 15-5 second quarter during which Parmentier scored 8 points and Alex Nutt added 6.
The Bears got as close as seven on a bucket from Lewis with two minutes left in the third quarter, but the Golden Falcons went on a 8-0 run at the end of the third quarter into the start of the fourth quarter to kill any thoughts of a comeback.

NOTES: Max Parmentier and Donovan Delaney (8 points, six assists, five rebounds) represented Falconer on the all-tournament team. The Golden Falcons finished 18 of 46 from the field, including 2 of 12 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 27 times. … Jaden Collver had six rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots for Frewsburg, which was 0 of 9 from 3-point range.
CONSOLATION GAME
CHAUTAUQUA LAKE 92, BROCTON 33
Junior Joey Abuhmeidan scored a career-high 34 points on his way to a spot on the all-tournament team to lead Chautauqua Lake past Brocton 92-33 in the consolation game of the Frewsburg Holiday Tournament.
The Eagles led 18-14 after the first quarter and then outscored the Bulldogs 55-9 over the middle two quarters.
Chautauqua Lake made 13 3-pointers in the game, including five by Nick Jacobson, three by Abuhmeidan, two apiece from Josh Swan and Brayden Gibbs, and one by Trent Houser.
The Eagles went 9 of 18 from the field, including three 3-pointers, during their 24-6 second quarter. They did even better in the opening eight minutes after halftime, hitting 13 of 20 shots, including 5 of 9 3-pointers, to take a 50-point lead into the final quarter.
Asher Olson finished with 16 points and Jacobson had 15 in the win.
NOTES: Chautauqua Lake finished 36 of 77 from the field, including 13 of 39 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 11 times. … C.J. Spiller scored 13 points for Brocton, which shot 13 of 48 from the field, including 5 of 18 from 3-point range, and turned the ball over 30 times.

WESTFIELD WINTER CLASSIC
DUNKIRK CLAIMS TITLE
WESTFIELD — After being held scoreless during the first quarter, K’Vion Tell scored 16 of his game-high 29 points during a 22-10 second quarter as Dunkirk pulled away from Westfield to win the Westfield Winter Classic title 74-48 on Saturday evening.
The host Wolverines led 20-18 after the opening eight minutes, but managed just 28 points the rest of the way.
Tell and Naisaih Rodriguez each made four of the Marauders’ nine 3-pointers. Jackson Carr finished with 12 points to equal Rodriguez.
Braylon Swanson led Westfield with 11 points, four assists and two steals while Grant Beadle had 9 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

SHERMAN — Junior Cal Cook scored a career-high 27 points, including three 3-pointers, as Sherman beat Pine Valley 72-23 in nonleague play Friday.
Jacob Ferranto added 21 points and eight rebounds while Kasen Goree had 7 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Wildcats, who led 7-2 after the first quarter, but erupted for 28 points in the second quarter.
James Greene led the Panthers with 15 points.
