Anderson’s Bucket, Swanson’s Steal Send Westfield To Victory

ANGOLA — Braylon Swanson had 15 points, six steals and five assists while Grant Beadle added 12 points and 16 rebounds to lead Westfield past Lake Shore 52-50 in nonleague boys basketball Saturday.

Westfield trailed 49-47 with 2:45 remaining before Swanson picked up a steal and a layup to tie the game with 1:39 left. The Wolverines’ Nolan Anderson then scored to give his team a 51-49 lead.

Lake Shore made it 51-50 with a free throw, but needed to foul four times to put Westfield into the bonus. With 12.4 seconds remaining, Swanson made a free throw. After a timeout, the Wolverines’ Noah Tuah got a deflection and Swanson picked up the steal to preserve the two-point win.

Brayden Paddock added 8 points while Logan Baum had 6 points and six rebounds for the Wolverines (6-3).

Kyle McNamara led the Eagles (3-7) with 17 points while Loyce Thompson-Jones and Colt Steinert chipped in 10 points apiece.

WARRIORS PULL AWAY AT REILLY CENTER

ST. BONAVENTURE — Carlton Farmer hit a pair of 3-pointers and Dominick Hill added three buckets during a 16-8 second quarter as Salamanca pulled away from Frewsburg for a 56-49 nonleague win at the Reilly Center.

Hill finished with a team-high 13 points and Farmer added 12 for the Warriors (6-5), who led 28-16 at halftime. Payton Bradley added 10 points in the win.

Isaac Hultberg led the Bears (3-5) with 15 points, five steals and four assists; Jaden Collver had 13 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots; and Gavin Weaver had 12 points.

FRANKLINVILLE — Junior Cal Cook scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed eight steals to lead Sherman to a 72-52 nonleague win over Franklinville.

Jacob Ferranto added 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots for the Wildcats (6-1), who jumped out to a 20-13 first-quarter lead and put the game away with a 23-12 third quarter.

Mason Blecha led the Panthers (1-7) with 20 points.
