Wolverines Claim Westfield Winter Classic

WESTFIELD — Reagan Weingart scored 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists and collected a pair of steals to send Westfield to a 42-28 victory over North East in the championship game of the Westfield Winter Classic on Tuesday.
Weingart, the tournament Most Valuable Player, had plenty of help as Nahlia Douglas added 11 points and four rebounds; and Olivia Wolfe chipped in three rebounds and three assists.
The win improved the Wolverines’ record to 7-0.
Leading the way for North East was Jalyssa Wicker with 11 points.
In the consolation game, Ellyson Baglia scored 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead Falconer to a 47-35 victory over Dunkirk.

Sydnee Snow contributed four assists and Alexis Smith collected eight rebounds for the Golden Falcons (3-5).
Emaladie Pacheco led the Marauders (0-6) with 17 points.
Joining Weingart on the all-tournament team were teammate Douglas; Miah Skelly and Mya Miller of North East; Jocelyn Thomas of Dunkirk; and Baglia of Falconer.

WEST ELLICOTT — Abery Harvey led three players in double figures as Frewsburg defeated Southwestern 53-33 in a nonleague game.
Harvey scored 19 points, Jadyn Trocki had 18 and Elysse Gruber chipped in 13 to help the Bears improve to 2-1
Frewsburg jumped out to a 24-10 lead after the first quarter, led by Harvey’s 9 points, Trocki’s 7 and Gruber’s 6. The margin stood at 28-13 at halftime and the Bears cruised the rest of the way.
Trocki also collected six assists, eight rebounds, four blocks and six steals; Gruber hauled down 15 rebounds; and Harvey grabbed eight boards.
Charlotte Beaver led Southwestern (4-2) with 10 points and nine rebounds; Gianna Sirianni added 8 points, four steals and four assists; and Marlana Ceresanti chipped in 6 points, five rebounds and four steals.
