Frewsburg Upends Trojans; Westfield Advances In Tournament

WESTFIELD — Westfield advanced to the championship game of the Westfield Winter Classic on Monday night with a 37-15 victory over Falconer.

Nahlia Douglas paced the Wolverines (6-0) with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Reagan Weingart added seven rebounds and three steals; and Sophia Wolfe collected four steals, which helped up a matchup with North East (Pennsylvania) High School in the title game at 5 p.m. today.

For the Golden Falcons, Ellyson Baglia scored 9 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while teammate Sydnee Snow added five steals and two assists.

PANAMA CRUISES

PANAMA — Panama had three girls reach double-digits as it rolled past Pine Valley 70-22 in nonleague action.

Jessica Lyon and McKenna Kolstee recorded double-doubles for Panama (3-3) with Lyon scoring 18 and grabbing 10 rebounds, while Kolstee provided 16 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, five blocks and two steals. Kiera Loberg added another 16 points with three assists, eight rebounds and six steals, Brooke Warner had four assists and four boards, Caitlin Straight collected five rebounds and three blocks and Kiersten Olson made four assists.

Pine Valley (0-6) was led by Sandy Ivett with 12 points.

WILDCATS IN SHOWCASE

SALAMANCA — Ella Crouse scored 15 points, collected six rebounds and dealt a block as Salamanca defeated Sherman on the final day of the Girls Winter Showcase on Saturday.

Crouse was named the Showcase MVP after her performance against the Wildcats, while Maliyah Foster was mentioned as a standout after scoring 12 points with five rebounds, three assists and two blocks for the Warriors. Liana Jimerson also scored 11 points for Salamanca, Makenzie Crouse collected eight rebounds, five blocks and two assists and Kynleigh Wass made five assists and five rebounds.

Sherman was led by standout Emmersen Crawford who scored 11 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists. Carlie Gable added 10 points and three steals for the Wildcats and Baya Oehlbeck hauled in six rebounds against the Warriors.

Franklinville’s Makenzie Chase was also named a standout of the showcase.
