MG Wins Thursday; Eagles Deliver Rowe 100th Victory Wednesday

ELLERY — Maple Grove utilized seven pins to beat Franklinville/Hinsdale/West Valley/Ellicottville 54-30 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 boys wrestling Thursday.

Dominic Danielson (126 pounds), Lukus Andriaccio (138 pounds), Maddox Lombardo (144 pounds), Will Benson (157 pounds), Nate Tomlinson (165 pounds), Logan Quattrone (190 pounds) and Ezekiel Padd (215 pounds) had pins for the Red Dragons.

Christian Sexton (175 pounds) and Dakota Smith (285 pounds) had takedowns for Franklinville/Hinsdale/West Valley/Ellicottville.

ROWE EARNS 100TH COACHING WIN

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Lake/Panama/Clymer/Westfield gave up just three points via decision en route to a 77-3 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 wrestling win over Olean/Allegany-Limestone on Wednesday.

The victory marked the 100th of Eagles head coach Ken Rowe’s career.

At 103 pounds, Chautauqua Lake/Panama/Clymer/Westfield’s Cade Smith pinned Noah Lent in 2:38. After the Eagles’ Chester Machemer earned 6 points via forfeit, Olean/Allegany-Limestone got its only points of the night when Camren Driscoll decisioned Chase Shirley 7-3.

From there, it was all Chautauqua Lake/Panama/Clymer/Westfield.

After Zander Lombardo (126 pounds) and Logan Fuller (132 pounds) earned forfeit wins, Thandon Bensink picked up a 17-0 technical fall. Gavin Burchanowski (144 pounds), Mason Munoz (150 pounds), Toby Watson (165 pounds), Tristen Gibbs (175 pounds) and Chase Houser (285 pounds) added pins for the Eagles.

Jordin Eddy (157 pounds), Caleb Szymanowski (190 pounds) and Colton Hamilton (215 pounds) also picked up forfeits in Rowe’s centennial win.

AMHERST — Abdul Alganfud and Ahmad Bulbol broke a 33-all tie with back-to-back victories as Sweet Home topped Jamestown 44-33 in Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 action.

Alganfud earned a 19-3 technical fall at 138 pounds before Bulgol’s 52-second pin at 144 pounds for the Panthers.

For the Red & Green, Benjamin Brown earned a pin at 150 pounds, Zane Elfritz had a takedown at 215 pounds, Adam Harrison had a pin at 285 pounds, Prestyn Michelson (118 pounds) and Nicholas Melendez (126 pounds) had pins, and Aaden Howard earned a 10-6 decision.
