Jacobson, Tarr Shine In Eagles’ Victory

MAYVILLE — Brina Jacobson did a little bit of everything to help Chautauqua Lake down Dunkirk 39-23 in the opening round of the “Tip-Off at the Lake” girls basketball tournament Thursday.

The eighth-grader scored 12 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, collected six steals and had four blocked shots, while 11th-grade teammate Kaylee Tarr chipped in 13 points, six boards and four steals.

Ema Pacheco led the Marauders with 13 points, and J. Thomas added 8.

The Eagles will meet Franklinville in the championship at 4 p.m. today.

PIRATES OPEN WITH WIN

CLYMER — Clymer built a 15-2 lead after the first quarter on its way to a 40-27 nonleague victory over Silver Creek on Thursday.

Alyssa Pratt led the way with 16 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists; Elli Bodamer chipped in 9 points, four rebounds and two steals; and Hannidy Goetzinger collected 7 points and 10 rebounds for the Pirates.

Gracelin Stevens paced Silver Creek with 16 points.
