Ludwig Hits 5 Triples, Lake Downs Falconer

MAYVILLE — Eden Ludwig went 5 for 5 from downtown with a game-high 19 points to lead Chautauqua Lake past Falconer 62-20 in nonleague girls basketball action on Monday.

Kaylee Tarr provided another 16 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists for Chautauqua Lake (3-1). Ludwig had four steals while Brina Jacobson collected seven boards, six steals and three assists.

Falconer (1-2) was led by Sydnee Snow with 8 points, four rebounds and three assists, and Addison Calimeri reeled in six rebounds.

SOUTHWESTERN JUMPS AHEAD EARLY

Gianna Sirianni scored 22 points to lead four players in double figures as Southwestern coasted past Dunkirk 73-14 in Division 1 action.

The Trojans (2-1, 1-0) led 28-0 after the first quarter, paced by 9 points from Jada Edwards, 7 from Braya Beaver, 6 from Sirianni and 5 from Charlotte Beaver.

Southwestern’s lead grew to 49-4 at halftime.

Sirianni had six steals, three assists and three rebounds; Braya Beaver had 19 points, six rebounds and two steals; Charlotte Beaver had 14 points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots; and Edwards had 12 points, five steals and two assists.

Four girls scored for the Marauders (0-2, 0-1).

SILVER CREEK — Gracelin Stevens was proficient at the charity stripe, scoring 15 of her 17 points from the line to give Silver Creek a 43-34 nonleague victory over North Collins.

Maddy Blair added another 15 points for the Black Knights (2-1) with three triples.

North Collins (0-1) was led by Hannah Jasinski with 11 points.

BOWLES CATCHES FIRE

Gianna Bowles scored 20 of her 21 points in the second half as Randolph edged nonleague Maple Grove 50-47

The Cardinals (2-1) led 14-6 after the first quarter, but a 13-3 second quarter gave the Red Dragons (3-1) a two-point lead at halftime.

But Bowles scored 18 points in the third quarter as Randolph pulled back in the lead. The Cardinals led by 11 late before Maple Grove hit a trio of 3-pointers to close the gap in the final minute.

In addition to her 21 points, Bowles had eight steals, six assists and five rebounds. Ava Sears chipped in 10 points, eight steals, six assists and three rebounds in the win.

Bry Cornell led Maple Grove with 17 points, 21 rebounds and six assists; Meg Ryan had 11 points and nine rebounds; and Alex Halstrom had 11 points.

WESTFIELD KNOCKS OFF GOWANDA AGAIN

GOWANDA — Sophia Wolfe scored 8 of her 16 points in the third quarter as Westfield pulled away from Gowanda for a 68-39 nonleague win — its second win over the Panthers in six days.

Reagan Weingart had a double-double for the Wolverines (2-0) with 11 points, 15 rebounds and six steals; Arielle Corbett had 11 points and three assists; Nahlia Douglass had six rebounds; and Olivia Wolfe had 10 points and three assists.

Corrina John led the Panthers (0-4) with 14 points, but just 3 came after halftime.

TIP-OFF AT THE LAKE TOURNAMENT

EAGLES CLAIM TITLE

MAYVILLE — Kaylee Tarr scored 17 points to lead four players in double figures as host Chautauqua Lake upended Franklinville 59-36 in the championship game of the Tip-Off at the Lake Tournament.

Tarr, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, was joined on the all-tournament team by teammate Brina Jacobson, who scored 4 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Also contributing to the winning effort were Karie Tarr and Eden Ludwig, who had 11 points apiece; and Cameron Mackey, who had 10 points, five steals and three assists.

Chautauqua Lake (2-1) held a one-point lead after the first quarter, but the Tarrs both scored 6 points during an 18-7 second-quarter run to push the margin to 28-16 at halftime.

For Franklinville, Grace Cornell had 8 points and was named to the all-tournament team.

In the consolation game, Gowanda upended Dunkirk. The Panthers’ Karina Johnson and the Marauders’ Emily Pacheco were all-tournament selections.
