Southwestern’s high school sailing team traveled to Rochester on Saturday to compete in the Daylight Savings Regatta, the final fun event of the fall season.

Jack Colburn, Jack Ballard, Aiden Solarz and Ashley Solarz switched it up sailing in A and B Division, completing 10 races for the day. Winds continuously shifting from the west and southwest varied between 5 and 15 knots with 40 degree temperatures on the Genesee River.

By this time in the season, the fair-weather sailors have packed it up, leaving the more hardened and determined teams on the water.

“This was a fun and great competition,” said Hunter Farris, CLCSF director of sailing, “where our sailors continued to make improvements in each race as the day went on.”

Southwestern finished in fourth place overall, having also earned a second place and three third-place finishes.

“In good spirits, our sailors head into the winter break and look forward to making even greater gains in their skills next spring,” Farris said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
