ST. BONAVENTURE — Five new inductees will join the St. Bonaventure University Athletics Hall of Fame as the Class of 2026: Caswell Cyrus ’00 (men’s basketball), Kerry Caher ’16 (women’s cross country/track), James Martin ’14 (men’s swimming), Randy Moley ’08 (baseball) and Chris Post ’11 (men’s tennis) have earned selection as the 47th induction class. Joining them will be Christine Hanley ’11 (women’s lacrosse) who was selected last year but deferred her induction to this year.

This year’s induction ceremony is set for Saturday, Feb. 14 and the Hall of Fame class will be honored at the men’s basketball game that afternoon in the Reilly Center.

The new inductees join 163 previous St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame honorees, continuing a tradition which dates to the inaugural induction class in 1969. Induction into the Hall of Fame recognizes and honors those individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the intercollegiate program at St. Bonaventure University, and who have continued to demonstrate in their lives the values imparted by intercollegiate athletics.

“Congratulations to Caswell, Kerry, Randy, James and Chris on their selection to the St. Bonaventure Athletics Hall of Fame,” said Bob Beretta, St. Bonaventure vice president & director of athletics. “The Class of 2026 personifies grit, determination, resiliency and excellence.

“We are excited to honor this group during Hall of Fame induction weekend in February, and to formally recognize these Bona greats at halftime of the men’s basketball game against Duquesne on Feb. 14,” Beretta added.

CHRIS POST

Post came to Bona’s from nearby Lakewood and left his mark on the program as one of the top Bonnies men’s tennis players in SBU’s Atlantic 10 era.

During his Bonaventure career, Post was hailed as a three-time Atlantic 10 First-Team All-Conference selection while holding down the No. 1 singles spot on the team for three of his four seasons, also being named a team captain three times.

A standout in both singles and doubles, he rose to No. 14 in the final ITA Northeast Regional rankings along with teammate Jon Luce in 2009. See HOF,

His effort in the 2009 Atlantic 10 Tournament stands as one of the most dramatic matches in program history as he rallied from down 5-2 in the third and final set on match point to earn a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3) victory and clinch the game-winning point over George Washington to send the Bonnies to the A-10 Championship final. Following the match, he required two bags of IV fluids at a local hospital following cramps but returned the next day for finals, splitting the first two sets vs. Xavier before the match was called when the Musketeers clinched the winning point as the Bonnies finished the season as the A-10 runners-up.

That type of resilience led Bonnies head coach Michael Bates to tout Post as “the most dedicated and hardest working player I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching.”

Post also won the Atlantic 10’s Sporting Award in 2009 for excellence and sportsmanship.

CASWELL CYRUS

One of 26 players in St. Bonaventure men’s basketball history to surpass 1,000 career points and 500 total rebounds, Cyrus stands as one of the best defensive players in Bonnies program history and was key to multiple memorable teams.

Cyrus graduated with 1,121 points, a total that stands today as 35th in the school record book. He also ranks 17th in rebounding with 680 boards while his 289 blocks long stood as the program benchmark and a total that still ranks second among all Bonaventure players.

A fierce defender, he was a three-time selection to the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team, one of only three Bonnies to achieve that feat, and his 99 swats in 1997-98 set the Bona single season record which still stands.

He was a force on the offensive end as well, posting double-digit scoring in three of his four seasons.

Cyrus was also an integral part of two Bonnies postseason teams, first helping the program to the 1998 NIT before serving as a key figure on the 2000 NCAA Tournament squad.

In one of the most memorable games in program history, Cyrus hauled in 18 rebounds during the 2000 NCAA Tournament contest vs. Kentucky, second-most in Bonnies NCAA tourney history behind only the great Bob Lanier’s 19 vs. N.C. State during the program’s 1970 Final Four run.

KERRY CAHER

Ten years after her graduation, Caher remains the most decorated women’s runner in St. Bonaventure history, and as stated by cross country/track head coach Bob Macfarlane, “redefined what was possible for cross country at St. Bonaventure.”

A two-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 honoree with finishes of 13th and fourth at the conference cross country championships in 2013 and 2014, respectively, she still sets the standard for a Bonnies runner, male or female, at the A-10 championship meet.

Across multiple seasons, she was the top finisher on her team in nearly every cross country meet, including conference and regional championships. Her cross country benchmarks remain untouched — her school record for the 5K of 17:34 remains the top time in Bona history by 49 seconds over any other individual while her 6K mark of 21:13 set as a junior remains the Bonaventure standard by 32 seconds.

A four-time Atlantic 10 Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, she became the first SBU runner to be honored with that award in consecutive weeks during her junior campaign of 2014. She also captured the top finish by a Bonnies women’s runner ever at that year’s NCAA Northeast Regional Championships.

As a sophomore in 2013, Caher helped lead the Bonnies to their first Little Three championship in three decades.

Despite competing at a time when the Bonnies did not have an official track team, she still owns the school’s 5,000-meter outdoor track time of 17:14.2, set in 2013 with a track record at Nazareth College.

Also a standout in the classroom, she was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team in 2014 before having her senior season cut short due to injury in 2015 following a second-place finish in the season-opening meet.

A “first ballot” Hall of Fame selection in her first year of eligibility, Caher becomes the first women’s cross country/track alum to be selected to the SBU Athletics Hall of Fame.

JAMES MARTIN

In a long line of decorated athletes to represent St. Bonaventure men’s swimming and diving, Martin is among the best of all-time.

A key to Bona’s back-to-back Atlantic 10 Champions of 2013 and 2014, he stood as the conference individual champ for the 50-free in 2014 and the 100-free in 2012.

His medal collection grew extensive by the time of his graduation as he captured four silver and three bronze medals at Atlantic 10 Championships during his career.

Martin also racked up the hardware in relays, serving as a clutch member of eight gold medal-winning relay teams as well as two which earned silver and two more taking bronze over four seasons at the conference championships.

In the 2014 title-winning meet for the Bonnies, Martin helped set the Atlantic 10 Championship record at the time for both the 200-free relay and 400-free relay.

Today, his 50-free time of 19.90 remains second in program history while his mark of 1:36.87 still stands fourth in the 200-free. The 400-free relay time of 2:55.48 set by Martin and teammates Michael Pilyugin, Viacheslav Shchukin and Ripley Danner remains the Atlantic 10 record.

Martin also combined with Pilyguin, Shchukin and Danner for a mark of 6:29.80 in the 800-free relay which remained the Bonnies record for a decade and today still stands second.

Martin captured dozens of dual meet victories during his Bonaventure career and also was a standout in the classroom as he was selected to the 2014 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.

RANDY MOLEY

The only Bonnies baseball athlete to finish his career with over 200 hits, 125 runs scored, 100 RBIs and 50 stolen bases, Moley ranks as one of the top players in the program’s modern era.

A steady performer during his Bonaventure career, he stands among the leaders in nearly every career offensive category in the Bonnies record books. His .352 career batting average is fourth-best in school history while his 213 total hits post as fifth-most. Moley also checks in tied for third in career doubles (46), fifth in runs scored (137), sixth for stolen bases (54), tied seventh in games played (179) and 14th in total starts (155).

His 2008 senior season shines as one of the best in Bona history: he recorded a .406 batting average with a .494 on-base percentage along with six homers, 20 doubles and 56 RBIs while swiping 32 stolen bases. Following that year, he received First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors as well as First Team All-Region accolades. His 84 hits and 61 runs scored that spring still stand as the most in a single season by any Bonnies player while his 24 multi-hit contests are tied for second-most all-time. His 20-game hitting streak extending from the final four games of 2007 into 2008 is also third-longest in the program’s Division I era.

In 2006, he helped the Bonnies reach the Atlantic 10 Championship Game with a .360 batting average that season.

A standout defender as well, he excelled in center field with a better than 97 percent fielding percentage in two of his three full-time starting seasons.

CHRISTINE HANLEY

Hanley stands as not only one of the top women’s lacrosse players in St. Bonaventure history, but one of the most decorated athletes across the board in recent Bonnies athletics memory.

A four-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection, she was named First-Team All-A-10 in both 2010 and 2011 after being a Second-Team honoree in 2009 and an All-Rookie Team pick in her debut season of 2008.

Hanley is the program’s all-time leader in goals with 154 while her 195 total points rank third in Bonnies history only to fellow Hall of Fame member Kelly Chevez (240) and Class of 2025 graduate Fiona McGovern who just surpassed Hanley’s total this past spring with 218.

Her senior year, she shared the department’s Letterwinner Award with Anna Cunningham and graduated as the program’s leader for games started (60), groundballs (124) and caused turnovers (88) — totals she continues to rank top 10 in for Bonaventure all-time ranks.

She tallied 48 or more points in each of her final three seasons, including 63 as a sophomore in 2009 and 57 the following year.

Following her graduation, she spent time on the sidelines as an assistant coach for the Bonnies.

In the classroom, she also achieved excellence by earning Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team honors.

Starting at $3.50/week.
