F/CV/MG, Southwestern Have 3 On First Team

The girls soccer Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 league was one of the most well-balanced groups in all of Section VI, but it was newcomer Portville that ultimately took home the title.
The Panthers earned the most First-Team selections with top-scoring junior Grace Gariepy leading the way after a campaign during which she provided 17 goals and 11 assists. She was joined by sophomore Allie Bray, who scored another 13 goals and two assists. Senior Emma Rhinehart and junior Ella Zeigler helped the defense complete 12 clean sheets on the year and post a 22-7 goal differential in league.
Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove earned a share of second place, placing a trio of girls on First Team. Junior Julianna Roth paced the offense with 14 goals and six assists, senior Mary Lundmark provided another nine goals and six assists, and senior defender Madilyn Seastrum had a goal and four assists while the Golden Cougars posted 10 clean sheets.
Southwestern matched the Golden Cougars’ record and number of representatives on the First Team. The Trojans were led by junior Marlana Cresanti with 15 goals and 10 assists, senior Avery Johnson added 11 goals and seven assists, and junior Kenzie Rogers had six goals and three assists.
Fredonia landed two girls on the First Team with sophomore Cece Tonelli, who scored 34 goals and nine assists, and junior Madelyn Polhamus, who notched nine goals and 11 assists.

Allegany-Limestone rounded out the First Team with the Honeck sisters. The senior Madison Honeck scored nine goals and four assists, while the sophomore Kennedy Honeck led the team with 13 goals and 10 assists.
Portville was represented on the Second Team by senior goalkeeper Bella Morales, junior Alana Petersen and freshman Quinn Scott. The team’s Individual Sportsmanship winner was senior Samantha Bray.
Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove added Second-Team selections in junior Kylie Kress, sophomore Sydnee Snow and junior goalkeeper Ellyson Baglia. The team’s Individual Sportsmanship pick was junior Lily McPherson.
Southwestern was represented on the Second Team by sophomore Kait Rogers and seniors Lucy Brown and M’Kenzie Zavala. The Southwestern Sportsmanship Award selection was junior Olivia Goeckel.
Allegany-Limestone added to the Second Team with junior Kai Wojewoda-Ko, while senior Addie Prince was the team’s Sportsmanship Award pick.
Fredonia’s Second-Team selection was senior Mariella Russo, while the Sportsmanship Award pick was junior Juliana Snyder.
Jamestown was represented on the Second Team by senior Abbee Brandow, while the team’s Sportsmanship Award pick was senior Anna Engquist.
Olean rounded out the Second Team with senior Mallory Carter, while the Huskies took home the league Sportsmanship Award and the Individual Sportsmanship winner was junior Lori Papa.
Honorable-mention choices included: Allegany-Limestone’s Carley Barrey and Mackenzie Rhodes, Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove’s Bailey Olson and Kenley Lincoln, Fredonia’s Naomi Muck, Jamestown’s Carley Daniels, Olean’s Addison Crosson, Portville’s Nazar Degolier, Lauren Lyle and Kiyah Mohr, and Southwestern’s Ellie Giltinan and Braya Beaver.
