Freeman Named CCAA DII Player Of The Year

With 48 goals and 26 assists this season, Cooper Freeman was the easy choice for Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division II coaches as their league’s Player of the Year.
The Randolph senior led the Cardinals to a 9-0-1 record in division play to edge Portville (8-1-1) for the league title.
Panthers junior Colin German was named the league’s Offensive Player of the Year after recording 27 goals and 10 assists.
Portville junior Luke Edwards was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year after registering six goals and one assist. The Panthers allowed just 17 goals in 19 games and recorded 10 clean sheets.
Portville’s JJ McIntosh was also honored as the league’s Coach of the Year.
Pine Valley/Gowanda received the Team Sportsmanship Award with Panthers senior Hayden Chase the Individual Sportsmanship Award winner.
Randolph senior Cody Slade and Ellicottville/Franklinville junior Tosh Klein joined Freeman, German and Edwards as the league’s Top 5 players.
Slade (12 goals, 13 assists) and Portville junior Garrett Reynolds (10 goals, 6 assists) were named the league’s First-Team forwards.
First-Team midfielders included Freeman, Germain, Klein (14 goals, 8 assists), Cassadaga Valley/Falconer junior Jacob Huling (3 goals, 9 assists) and Cassadaga Valley/Falconer senior Cameron Katilus (9 goals).
First-Team defenders included Edwards, Ellicottville/Franklinville junior Coleman Carls (1 assist), Portville junior Victor Vena (2 goals, 1 assist), Randolph senior Parker Patterson (1 goal, 2 assist) and Cassadaga Valley/Falconer junior Connor Main (1 goal).
Ellicottville/Franklinville senior Jackson Kruszynski was named the league’s First-Team goalkeeper. The Eagles allowed 25 goals and 18 games with six clean sheets.
The league’s Second-Team forwards were Ellicottville/Franklinville junior Rian Johnson and Randolph junior Gavin Senn.
The league’s Second-Team midfielders were Randolph junior Isaac Pihlblad, Ellicottville/Franklinville junior Christopher Edwards, Ellicottville/Franklinville sophomore Holden Basher, Salamanca junior Taylor Hayes, Cassadaga Valley/Falconer junior Nathyn Gilbert and Pine Valley/Gowanda senior Jarrett Myers.
Second-Team defenders included Randolph sophomore Grady Steward, Portville junior Parker Keim, Ellicottville/Franklinville junior Timothy DeChane and Portville senior Riley Horsley.
Randolph junior Randy Nottingham was the Second-Team goalkeeper.
Jerome Lee Yaw was named the league’s Referee of the Year.
