Bonnies Top Robert Morris, Improve To 5-0
ST. BONAVENTURE — Frank Mitchell (19 points, 16 rebounds) and Cayden Charles (12 points, 10 rebounds) each posted double-doubles to lead the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team past Robert Morris 75-61 on Wednesday night at the Reilly Center.
It is the first time since 2022 that St. Bonaventure has had multiple players with a double-double in the same game.
Two other Bonnies finished in double figures. Buddy Simmons II contributed 16 points on 5 for 11 shooting (3 for 6 3-pointers) and dished out five assists, while Joe Grahovac added 11 points on a perfect 3 for 3 shooting from deep and had three blocks on the defensive end.
St. Bonaventure (5-0) opened the game with 12 straight points. All five starters — Mitchell, Grahovac, Charles, Simmons II and Dasonte Bowen — scored in that span.
Robert Morris (3-2) responded with seven straight points until Simmons II nailed a triple at the 14:51 mark.
SBU and RMU traded baskets over the next 11:57, with the Bonnies slightly outscoring the Colonials 18-16, to hold a 33-23 edge.
In the final 2:54 of the frame, Robert Morris went on a 10-4 surge to cut its deficit to 37-33 at the break, St. Bonaventure’s smallest lead since 4-0.

The Bonnies retook a double-digit advantage, 51-40, after outscoring the Colonials 14-7 through the first 6:46 of action.
RMU battled back over the next 5:25, going on a 12-4 run to clip SBU’s lead to 55-52 — the closest the Colonials would get in the second frame.
St. Bonaventure overpowered Robert Morris in the remaining 7:26, going on a 20-8 surge to keep the game out of reach.
SBU reclaimed a double-digit lead with 4:17 to go following a Mitchell one-handed, alley-oop slam off a Simmons II lob in transition.
Simmons II scored 5 points in the final 1:13 to secure the 14-point victory.
Frank Mitchell is now averaging 16.0 points and an Atlantic-10-best 10.6 rebounds per game.
The last time a St. Bonaventure player had at least 19 points and 16 rebounds in a game was on Jan. 21, 2022 when Osun Ossuniyi posted 21 points and 17 boards in a win over Duquesne.
Buddy Simmons II has made at least five field goals in all five of the Bonnies’ games this season.
St. Bonaventure’s 21 assists were a season-high, and the most for the Bonnies since exactly one year ago (21 assists, Nov. 20, 2024) against Mansfield. The last time SBU had more than 21 assists as a team was Jan. 16, 2024, against Saint Joseph’s.
Through four games, Joe Grahovac is shooting 53.8% (7 for 13) from beyond the arc.
Freshman Andrew Osasuyi went 2 for 2 from the field, bringing his season field goal percentage to 71.4 (10 for 14).
Two Bonnies — Ilia Ermakov and Daniel Egbuniwe — made their Reilly Center debuts. Ermakov logged the first minutes of his career, while Egbuniwe scored his first points as a Bonnies with a second-half 3-pointer.
