Trojans Move Up A Spot In Class C

Southwestern/Frewsburg moved up a spot to No. 5 in the latest football rankings released by the New York State Sportswriters Association.
The Trojans, who clinched the Class C South title with a 27-14 win over Clymer/Sherman/Panama last Friday, will take on Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove in their regular-season finale Friday at Charles A. Lawson Field.
Eden/North Collins moved up three spots to No. 16 in Class C after a 53-16 win over Tonawanda last Friday in Eden. The Raiders will travel to Alden this Friday night.
Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton is now ranked No. 17 after being honorable mention last week. The Eagles beat Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove 42-0 last Friday and will host Salamanca this Friday in Mayville.
Clymer/Sherman/Panama remained honorable mention after its loss to Southwestern/Frewsburg. The Wolfpack will look to clinch a Section VI playoff spot Friday against Portville/Bolivar-Richburg/Cuba-Rushford in Bolivar.
Salamanca also remained honorable mention after beating Fredonia last Friday. The Warriors can clinch Class C South’s No. 2 seed with a win in Mayville this Friday.
Elsewhere in Class C, Barker/Royalton-Hartland is No. 14 while Akron and Medina are honorable mentions. Section IV’s Chenango Forks is No. 1.
Jamestown remained honorable mention in Class AA after its 49-6 win at Niagara Falls last Saturday. The Red & Green host Lockport in their regular-season finale Friday at Strider Field.
Elsewhere in Class AA, Canisius is No. 9, St. Francis is No. 10, Bennett is No. 17, St. Joe’s is No. 23, Lancaster is No. 30 and Orchard Park is honorable mention. Section III’s Christian Brothers Academy is No. 1.
Randolph is now No. 15 after being honorable mention last week in Class D. The Cardinals, who beat Cattaraugus-Little Valley 37-8 last Friday, will travel to Gowanda to take on honorable mention Gowanda/Pine Valley this Friday. The Panthers fell from No. 15 a week ago after losing to Newfane.
Newfane is No. 3 and Wilson is No. 8 while Tioga of Section IV is No. 1 in Class D.
Local teams ranked in Class A include: No. 6 Health Sciences/Buffalo Academy of Science/Global Concepts and No. 13 McKinley as well as honorable mentions Clarence, Grand Island, West Seneca West, Williamsville East and Williamsville North. Garden City of Section VIII is No. 1 in Class A.
In Class B, Williamsville South is No. 9, Iroquois is No. 13 and West Seneca East is No. 16 while Depew, Lackawanna, Pioneer and South Park are honorable mentions. Section IX’s Port Jervis is No. 1.
GIRLS SOCCER
Frewsburg remained No. 9 and Randolph remained No. 14 in the Class C rankings.
The second-seeded Bears will host No. 7 Westfield/Brocton in a Section VI quarterfinal Saturday while the third-seeded Cardinals will host No. 6 Holland that same day.
Also in Class C, Wilson is No. 15. Section II’s Stillwater is the top-ranked team in the state.
In Class B, Southwestern moved up three spots to No. 22. The second-seeded Trojans will host No. 7 Eden in a Section VI quarterfinal Saturday after beating No. 15 JFK on Wednesday afternoon.
Also in Class B, St. Mary’s of Lancaster is No. 1 and Alden is No. 19.
In Class AAA, Lancaster is No. 21 while Northport of Section XI is No. 1.
Clarence is No. 4 and Frontier is No. 9 in Class AA where Section I’s Albertus Magnus is No. 1.
In Class A, Starpoint is No. 8, Iroquois is No. 11 and Lewiston-Porter is No. 21 while the top-ranked team in the state is Section III’s New Hartford.
Cincinnatus of Section III is the No. 1 team in Class D.
BOYS SOCCER
Randolph has finally found its way back into the Class C rankings at No. 16.
The Cardinals are the No. 3 seed in the Section VI Class C playoffs and will host No. 6 Westfield/Brocton in a quarterfinal Friday at Raymond Van Wie Stadium.
Also in Class C, Wilson is No. 2 and Allegany-Limestone is No. 9 while Section V’s Naples is No. 1.
In Class AAA, Lancaster is No. 12 and Fairport of Section V is No. 1.
Clarence is No. 6 and Williamsville East is No. 11 in Class AA where Garden City of Section VIII is No. 1.
In Class A, Lewiston-Porter is No. 3 and East Aurora is No. 6. Section XI’s Shoreham-Wading River is No. 1.
Lafayette is No. 9 and Medina is No. 13 in Class B while Section V’s Hornell is No. 1.
Section VII’s Chazy is No. 1 in Class D.
