Salamanca 2nd, P/MG/C/S 3rd, Frewsburg/Falconer 4th At Class C Swimming
BUFFALO — Salamanca, Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer/Sherman and Frewsburg/Falconer finished second through fourth, respectively, at the Section VI Class C girls swimming and diving championships Thursday at City Honors High School.
Alden won the team title with 304 points, followed by the Warriors (286), Wolfpack (281) and Bears (250). Franklinville/Ellicottville/West Valley was eighth with 111 points and Chautauqua Lake/Westfield was 10th with 56 points.
Salamanca and Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer/Sherman each had a first place, two second places and a third place. Frewsburg/Falconer had a first place and a third place. Franklinville/Ellicottville/West Valley had two third-place finishes.
For Salamanca, junior Addi Follman won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:07.23, the 200-yard medley relay team of Follman, senior Charli Ross, eighth-grader Ava Chriss and sophomore Kynleigh Wass was second in 2:06.93, junior Rileigh Hutchison was second in 1-meter diving with 306.30 points and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Juliana Smith, Chriss, Wass and Follman were third in 4:05.83.
For Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer/Sherman, junior Emery Watkins won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.98 and was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.78, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Addi Bryant, junior Jessica Lyon, freshman Paiten Harvey and Watkins was second in 4:01.97 and Bryant was third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:29.88.
For Frewsburg/Falconer, sophomore Anelia Pitts won the 1-meter diving competition with 446.75 points and freshman Sydney Frederes was third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.60.
Franklinville/Ellicottville/West Valley sophomore Kayci Landow was third in the 500-yard freestyle (6:01.78) and freshman Diana Li was third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.38.
