Randolph Survives Scare From Westfield/Brocton

RANDOLPH — Two goals in the final five minutes sent No. 3 Randolph past No. 6 Westfield/Brocton 2-0 in a Section VI Class C quarterfinal Friday evening at Raymond Van Wie Stadium.
Cooper Freeman scored the eventual game-winning goal from Cody Slade with five minutes remaining in the game. Cody Slade added an insurance goal from Dallas Finch with a minute remaining.
Randy Nottingham made 10 saves for the Cardinals, who will travel to No. 2 Allegany-Limestone for a semifinal Tuesday at 6 p.m. That game will be a rematch of last year’s sectional final, which the Gators won 2-0.
Nolan Anderson made 11 saves for the Wolverines.
“It was possibly the best high school goalie performance I’ve ever seen,” Randolph head coach David Pihlblad said. “He was unbelievable.”
FREDONIA OUSTED
MEDINA — Vinny Gray’s goal from Izzy Anderson in the fourth minute was the only goal No. 4 Medina would need in a 1-0 shutout of No. 5 Fredonia in Class B quarterfinal play.
The Mustangs will travel to All-High Stadium for a 6 p.m. semifinal Monday against No. 1 Lafayette.
