Randolph Clinches At Least Share Of Title; Freeman Sets Assists Record

RANDOLPH — Cody Slade scored twice as Randolph wrapped up at least a share of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division II boys soccer title with a 4-1 win over Ellicottville/Franklinville.

Cooper Freeman scored from Malachi Brown in the 12th minute as the Cardinals (13-1-1, 8-0-1) led 1-0 at halftime.

After the break, Slade scored unassisted in the 67th minute and from Freeman in the 74th minute. The assist for Freeman broke a tie with head coach David Pihlblad for the program record in helpers.

Grady Steward scored the final goal from Parker Patterson for Randolph.

Ellicottville/Franklinville (7-5-3, 5-3-1) broke up the shutout with 33 seconds remaining when Rian Johnson scored from Jaxson LaCroix.

Jackson Kruszynski made eight saves for the Eagles while Randy Nottingham made four saves for the Cardinals, who can clinch the league title outright with a win over Pine Valley/Gowanda on Thursday.

HORVATHS GUIDE CHAUTAUQUA LAKE

MAYVILLE — Travis Horvath scored twice from Lucas Horvath, including a goal in the 73rd minute that lifted Chautauqua Lake past North Collins 3-2 in Division III action.

Trailing by a goal late in the game, Chautauqua Lake (8-5-0, 3-4-0) scored three goals in 13 minutes to secure the win. Between the Horvath tallies was an equalizing goal by Aden Gollhardt from Landon D’Anthony in the 69th minute.

Lucio Zagari scored a goal and an assist for North Collins (9-6-0, 5-3-0), while Czedrick Neri had a goal and Neven Sheehy provided an assist.

KOOPMAN LIFTS FREDONIA

OLEAN — Ryan Koopman scored twice and delivered an assist as Fredonia defeated Olean 4-2 in Division I.

Hayden Babar picked up two assists for Fredonia (11-2-2, 5-2-2), while Brayden Korzeniewski and Brady Crawford scored once each and Kyle Holland had one assist.

Olean drops to 3-12-0 overall and 1-8-0 in league.

BURGESS POWERS RED & GREEN

WEST ELLICOTT — Cameron Burgess scored a natural hat trick to begin the game and Jamestown cruised to a 4-1 Division I victory over Southwestern.

Beckett Lumia assisted on the first three Jamestown (7-6-1, 4-4-1) goals and then scored on a free kick in the second half that gave the Red & Green a 4-0 lead. Karson Milne provided four saves as Jamestown moved to No. 2 in the Class AAA seeding.

Southwestern (3-11-1, 2-7-0) received 15 saves from Cooper Charles.

PANTHERS DOMINATE WARRIORS

PORTVILLE — Colin German scored twice and set up another two goals as Portville ran by Salamanca 9-1 in Division II.

John Neeson also scored twice for Portville (11-1-3, 7-1-1), while Conner Roulo, Patrick Perkins, Nick Edwards, Riley Horsley and Carson Friends had a goal apiece. Horsley also added an assist as did Garrett Reynolds.

Salamanca (1-14-0, 1-8-0) prevented the shutout in the 78th minute when Calum Farnum scored from Darren Hayes.

WOLVERINES BLANK FREWSBURG

WESTFIELD — Braylon Swanson netted a hat trick as Westfield/Brocton defeated Frewsburg 5-0 in nonleague play.

Caleb Stoughton scored a goal and an assist for Westfield/Brocton (12-3-0), Logan Baum scored once, and the trio of Parker Gambino, Michael Cettell and Caleb Freifeld provided one assist apiece.

Justin Martin made 11 saves for Frewsburg (0-13-0).

GOLDEN COUGARS EDGE PANTHERS

FALCONER — Gavin Penhollow scored in the 70th minute to lift Cassadaga Valley/Falconer past Pine Valley/Gowanda 2-1 in Division II.

Nathyn Gilbert scored from Noah Booth in the 48th minute, while Skyler Szablewski made three saves to give Cassadaga Valley/Falconer (4-10-1, 3-5-1) the win.

Pine Valley/Gowanda fell to 1-14-0 overall and 1-8-0 in league.
