Predictable Prequarterfinals

Southwestern, Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove Roll In Class B

WEST ELLICOTT — Marlana Cresanti scored twice and set up a pair of goals as No. 2 Southwestern cruised past No. 15 JFK 8-1 in the Section VI Class B girls soccer prequarterfinals at Charles A. Lawson Field on Wednesday.

Mikaela Luce also scored twice for the Trojans; Lucy Brown provided a goal and two assists; Makenna Johnson, Avery Johnson and Kenzie Rogers had a goal apiece; and Braelynn Dykstra made one save in the contest.

JFK received a goal from Natalee Masterman assisted by Gemma Jagodzinski, while Kathryn Szablicki made 20 saves in net.

The Trojans (10-5-2) will host No. 10 Salamanca (7-8-1) in the quarterfinals Saturday at noon.

FALCONER — Julianna Roth scored twice and picked up an assist as No. 3 Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove cruised past No. 14 Medina 8-0 in the Class B prequarterfinals at Bill Race Field.

Kylie Kress added another two goals for the Golden Cougars; Emilee Chapman, Mary Lundmark, Brynn Helms and Giada Schauman had a goal apiece; and Madilyn Seastrum, Bailey Olson and Gracie Chimera had one assist apiece. Ellyson Baglia faced no shots earning the clean sheet.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove (11-5-1) will host No. 6 Akron (9-7-1) at noon Saturday in the quarterfinals.

FREDONIA EDGES SPRINGVILLE

SPRINGVILLE — Mady Polhamus scored from Callie Draggett in the 54th minute and No. 9 Fredonia held off No. 8 Springville 2-0 in the Class B prequarterfinals.

Cece Tonelli added an insurance goal for Fredonia in the 68th minute, while Naomi Muck made only one save for the Hillbillies.

Fredonia (11-5-1) will play at top-seeded Alden (12-2-2) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Springville finished the season with a 7-8-1 record.

TIGERS OUST

BLACK KNIGHTS

AKRON — No. 6 Akron knocked No. 11 Silver Creek/Forestville out of the playoffs with a 5-0 decision in the Class B prequarterfinals.

The Black Knights finished the season with an 8-7-1 record, while Akron will travel to No. 3 Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove on Saturday at noon.

WARRIORS EDGE EDEN

EDEN — Arleigh Chudy scored in the 21st minute as No. 10 Salamanca beat No. 7 Eden 1-0 in a Class B prequarterfinal.

Kendra Bova-Redeye stopped every shot she saw for the Warriors, who will travel to No. 2 Southwestern for a noon Saturday quarterfinal.

“Kendra Bova-Redeye once again proved to be the difference in the game tonight,” Salamanca head coach Kersten Furlong said. “She came up with probably one of the greatest high school saves as a keeper.”

ALDEN ROLLS PINE VALLEY/GOWANDA

ALDEN — Ava Schmitt scored four goals and added an assist as No. 1 Alden cruised past No. 16 Pine Valley/Gowanda 11-0 in the Class C prequarterfinals.

Jessica Bauer scored another two goals for Alden; Camryn Speranza had a goal and two assists; both Jillian Uhrich and Kendra McCoy had a goal and an assist; Kara Partell and Ava Turnbull had a goal apiece; Emma Casillo had two helpers; and Claire Whitford and Lydia Wrest provided an assist apiece.

Top-seeded Alden (12-2-2) will next host No. 9 Fredonia on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Pine Valley/Gowanda finished the season with an 0-17-0 record.

CHAUTAUQUA LAKE BOWS OUT

BARKER — Alexa Robinson scored five goals to lift No. 8 Barker/Lyndonville past No. 9 Chautauqua Lake 5-2 in the Class C prequarterfinals.

Leah Costello and Villette Jary each had an assist for the Bulldogs, while Melodi Murphy made three saves. Barker/Lyndonville (9-5-3) advances to a quarterfinal matchup at No. 1 Wilson on Saturday.

Chautauqua Lake received a goal each from Kendra Tarr and Eliana Ludwig, while Avery Cannon had an assist. Lucy Gates made 17 saves in the effort and the Eagles finished the year with a 4-12-0 record.

WOLVERINES BUMP NORTH COLLINS

WESTFIELD — Kylie Post scored from Olivia Wolfe in the 64th minute to lift No. 7 Westfield/Brocton past No. 10 North Collins 1-0 in the Class C prequarterfinals.

Colie Bundy made 14 saves in net to preserve the clean sheet and the victory for the Wolverines. Westfield/Brocton (9-5-2) will travel to No. 2 Frewsburg (13-2-1) at noon on Saturday.

North Collins finished the season with a 7-7-3 record.
